So I really want a precision m14 and the m25 looks like it would fill the bill. Anyone know how well they shoot? I'm looking at a basic m25 model with lugged reciever , medium chrome lined barrel bedded into a McMillan stock. If anyone has one of these please chime in as I know next to nothing about m14's

This is an oxymoron. There is no such thing as a chrome lined match grade barrel. With the lugged receiver, quality stock, etc, a chrome lined barrel would be contrary to the rest of the package. It is very difficult to lay down a chrome lining of uniform thickness in a 0.30" hole over 20 or more inches of tubing.

Criterion makes a medium weight chrome lined barrel that is an option through LRB or any good smith could mount it. I am sure it shoots fine. That said I went with the Krieger SS medium weight on a recent build. The M14 platform needs more than a good barrel to shoot well(operator excluded). I would ask the smith or co you are ordering from for thier advise on barrel/parts combination to fit your application. FWIW, LRB is currently six to eight months out on production of any more rear lugged M25 recievers.

Since the target is an NRA 300 yd target, was that group shot at 300 yds?

Yea, that's a nice group but distance would be nice. That group shot at 50 yards isn't too impressive. Now if it was shot at 300, I'm impressed.

Sure there is. My .308 AR has a chrome lined 16" barrel that will print 1/2" five shot groups all day long. The chrome lining of 20 years ago isn't the same as chrome lining these days. FN precision rifles also have cold hammer forged chrome lined barrels that will shoot sub-MOA groups easily.

I think Chrome lined barrels have gotten a lot better as well. Fulton Armory has even said they hold the same accuracy with new chrome barrel next to new non chromed.

Lugged receiver would be a mistake today.

Is that "chrome lined" or "chrome-moly"?
