Ok I know alot about the AR-10s and some about the M-14....here is where I ask the silly question....Is the mag for the M1 the same as the M-14 .308 magazine...the reason I am asking is I want to get some stripper clips for my AR-10 Gen 2 mags which are for the most part Modified M-14 mags...
As I said...maybe a Silly question to some...
Thanks..

I think you are asking about an M1A mag. If so, then yes, the mags are the same between an M14 and an M1A. Because there is an M1 Garand which doesn't use mags, and the M1 Carbine which uses mags, but they are much smaller in size than those used by the M1A/M14.

Thanks much...and now that you mention it...I do remember the Garand is an internal magazine...and if I remember right...the M-1 Carbine was a .30 cal, again if I recall correctly....
Thanks again...

ArmaLite Gen I mags are a modified M14/M1A magazine (floorplate and window cut in body). The ArmaLite Gen II's are a redesign based off the M14/M1A magazine. You can use the M14 stripper clip and key. You can use M14/M1A mags in the ArmaLite AR-10B if you use a tight sling to hold them in place, no bolt hold open.

FWIW...

The M1 Garand can be made to accept either BAR mags or M14 mags (with a .308 barrel)... but it's a permanent switch. The receiver has to be modified to do this and there is no going back once the conversion is done.

It's also not cheap.....

My thanks for the help....I am still deciding whether or not to go this route...for quick reloads...
It seems they are not an easy thing to come by as the ones for the AR-15s

I can spare some strippers, not sure about having extra spoons (nor am I sure the M14 spoon will work on the AR10 mag).
I was orginally going to suggest just picking up an M14 Lula loader but I tried it on an AR10 mag...it won't go.
Send me an IM on the strippers, I've got plenty.

M-14 <–––––––-–> AR-10 Gen 1

The floorplate is common to both; it is the follower that is different.

Moar pr0n...

Thanks again for the input guys...I am still debating on using the stripper clips...I have watched a few vids on using them..
5 and 10 round mags seem to go not to bad..but loading a 20 to 25 round mag seems like a pain...I have timed the loaders...I can do just as good by the hand full given I have practiced for many hours, but the convenience of having them loaded to strips might come in handy...
Thanks again
