I personally built several when 7.62x51 was $120/case. Getting good enbloc clips are the key.

No reason why one shouldn't work. All you are doing is changing the barrel. However, one occasionally finds a barrel with an undersized gas hole, and that causes short stroking. I have a Tanker Garand in 308, and it runs just fine.

How is yours malfunctioning?

A few years ago I built one based on a CMP gun. Used a Wilson Arms barrel from Brownells. Never a malfunction.

I've had one for years....never one malfunction it's one of my favorite guns, I think the platform is better in .308
