Just Got An Email From CMP

Last month I made a road trip to CMP South. I was really disappointed in what I saw. A lot of people told me what I saw wasn't typical. So last week I took a chance and sent in my paperwork for a Service Grade HRA. This morning I got an email from CMP South saying they are shipping my Garand today and I will have it tomorrow. 
I'm really surprised considering their website and the paperwork say 30-60 days and it's a Federal Holiday.

I have 6 garands from CMP and some were better then others but I did not have any dogs in the lot.

So, are you doing the happy dance? I bet you are. The HRA's I've seen posted lately have been nice rifles.

I was home 2 minutes when FedEx pulled in the drive. I've unboxed and fieldstripped it. It's full of cosmoline and I haven't had a chance to clean it up. I'm in Nursing School and have been swamped with homework this week. Plus I'm taking a weekend class this weekend. Got some kerosene and a turkey roasting pan to clean it up. I don't have class Sunday morning so I will try to degrease it then.
From my inspection the other day, it has a H&R barrel dated 7/55, a SA bolt, a SA trigger group with a milled trigger guard and a HRA op rod. From what I can tell it also appears the stock is HRA also. Which brings me to a question. How tight should the receiver to stock fit be? When I removed the trigger group, the rifle fell out of the rifle. It landed on my ankle so it didn't get hurt.

Mine is the same as far as parts go. All HRA excepth the stock,bolt and trigger group which are all SA. The stock will have a "P" stamped on the underneath of the pistol grip. If it is a serif "P" is most likely is a SA stock. The HRA stocks are wider near the reciever also. Check the CMP site for better description. My '54 SG HRA is pretty tight in the stock. It has to be pulled up from the stock after the trigger group is out. Does the trigger group latch tightly?

It should not fall out of the stock. There are methods of tightening the fit that I will not go into here.
