EBR Scope Mounting Options ???
I'm planning on purchasing a SAGE EBR stock (not sure which model) from a friend of mine. I'd like to scope the rifle with a 1-4X scope initially with the option of adding something with a bit more magnification down the road. Resorting back to irons easily would also be nice.
Three options I'm considering: the Larue cantilever mount, the Sage cantilever mount, or the Sage stripper clip scope base. I like the idea of the stripper clip scope base and some detachable rings to swap between scopes. The Larue has a reasonable price tag and buying two, one for each scope, seems reasonable. Not sure how readily the Sage mount swaps (is there a rear attachment point).
This would be a SHTF rifle, a plinker, and possibly used in matches. Our local clup has two scoped rifle matches a year. Any insight or pictures of set-ups that work for y'all would be appreciated.
I have run LT-139's mount backwards off the front rail with good results...
I believe the sage cantilever mount mounts to the stripper clip guide. The LT-608 does not mount to the stripper guide. With both the Sage and LT cantilever mounts, you still need rings, with the -139 you don't (but you have to get another one for a different optic if you want a swap-out ability)...
If you are going to run the stripper guide rail replacement part, make sure you align it properly with the rail, and make sure you get the right height rings (The Badger Ord EBR rings will leave a 50mm Objective lens sitting just a hair above the rail)
Another option is the qd scope mount from GG&G. I came across it sometime late last year when GG&G posted an ad for it on the EE. Unfortunately, I have not ready any reviews on it.
Tag for possible reviews (can't find any through google).
I'm using the stripper clip rail on mine, and it's working fine, but I would feel a lot more comfortable with something like this. Especially at that price point, that's a considerable savings over the SAGE cantilever setup after rings.
Thanks for the extra ideas. I do like the GG&G set up. However, after doing much reading, re-reading, and further reading (the internet is a great thing except for my bank account) I decided to go with the Sage cantilever mount. I was able to find one lightly used for $180 shipped.
I should have the mount and stock in about a week. Then its onto rings and a suitable scope.
What rings would go well with this set-up. I'm looking at a 30mm scope right now - either a Trijicon, SWFA Super Sniper or something else in that price range in the 1-4X setting. Initial digging came up with Nightforce Ultralight low rings at about $155. Any other options out there that would fit the bill? Maybe of similar quality but at a reduced price?
