Looks like BAR mags(?)
Maybe the days of the cheap BAR mags is finally over. Back in the late '60s & '70s the BAR mags could be had for almost nothing.
Then the semi-auto BARs came on the market but the mags were still relatively inexpensive.
Now I see some being sold for nearly $40 each. Back in the day we could probably buy a dozen for that much.
YMMV
Article states its a modified BAR mag. THere is talk of many different calibers.
Those rifles are nice, but why don't they just build a BAR?

Will they make one in .308?
30/06? That sounds like a long run for a short slide. In other words, a lot of effort for little or no gain. Why not just buy a Garand?
Hey Guys,
I have just ordered one of these for myself. You all seem to have a lot of interesting comments here. To answer all your inquiries in regarding this rifle, go to the m14forum. It will answer all your questions and enlighten you on what is going on. Later mates.

Did Lammers quit his job and take on gun smithing as his full time job???
From what I gather this is a different reciever and will have either an M14 or Garand Gas system . Also allows for commercial loads. I see you guys picking it apart but How many long range 30/06 semis are out there right now new on the market? As King said m14forum is a good source for info .
M1 Garands being blasphemed and turned into .308s.
M14 clone now being made in .30-06.
Damn!
If you want .30-06, buy a Garand and leave it alone.
If you want .308/7.62 NATO, buy an M14 clone and leave it alone.
There. Problem solved.

Gay.Now if it fired 7.62x54r both heavy and light ball I could see it possibly having a niche.

Clearly this is the offspring of a gay relationship between the M-1 and the M-14, thus making valid the use of the word gay to describe a dislike for the first time on the internet.

I don't really see a niche for it either, though if the manufacturers believe there is a market for it (and some of the posters in the thread indicate so) then I wish them a successful endeavor as more firearm designs in the world is never a bad thing. Unless you're my wife, or my wallet that is. Then it's a pretty bad thing, supposedly.
A 1 moa optics friendly 30 cal semi that shoots like a Cadillac?? Count me as very interested. I love my Garand but my eyes are garbage and the options for optics are less then ideal (currently using the Bsquare mount). I have considered going for an M1A but the optics options on those seem marginally better then the M1.

You read it and I stick to it, your shenanigans notwithstanding.

Shenanigans?
By the way, Tim Shufflin has been doing BAR conversions on M-1's for awhile now, using M-1 and BM 59 gas systems. Just less heard of.

Since this is a tech forum, I won't post what I think of your shenanigans and your flaunting of it.

Shuff's Garand magazine conversions have always been in 308 and based on the M14 mag, unless something new is afoot. I was very close to pulling the trigger on one of those, but the rear end of the barrel he chopped for my Mini-G was far to nice (the muzzle was damaged though). If I needed a new barrel I probably would have done it...

I don't see it on his site, but I can almost swear there was a thread on his own forum with the BAR conversion. I know it has been done before.
M14 mag conversion, for anyone curious:

That has yet to be seen or proven.
I guess this thing will be made in both 30-06 and 8mm for those that are interested in this monstrosity.

You know Larry sometimes I don't agree with your opinions at all.
This time I think you stole the words right out of my mouth.
What in blue blazes is the point? Let's also make a M1 garand in .30 carbine and 9mm Luger while were at it.

Schießengnügen?
Whats the point of someone collecting all the Garands from different manufacturers? Are any of these guys with 20+ firearms in their collections going to actually use all of them. Whats the point?
For someone who shoots rifles for recreation (and not necessarily for competition), one of these might be a viable alternative to whats out there.
The Garand is not a viable option for me in long range shooting due to limited options with optics. AR-10 clones and other alternatives like the SCAR and FNAR don't have that Garand feel to them. So the only other choice out there is the M1A... which is fine.. but with this you get everything the M1A gives you plus access to long action cartridges and a better mount for optics.
I'm betting on it have all sorts of problems. I cannot see it being a huge seller and I doubt it will last long. Then for the unlucky ones with it, it will be one of those things locked away because your afraid of breaking it and there is no parts to fix it.
