My first M14! (pics)...

Got my first .308 the other day. Got it hooked up with a MRD in a Larue mount, and picked up a few CMI mags...

not bad. The M14 is my favorite rifle. I started out with the shorties, but have found that I am leaning more towards the fullsize now,

Nice. While my preference is to the standard wood stocked M1A, I can appreciate the shorty with the glass. I often wonder what the shorter barrel length does to velocity.

Almost pulled the trigger on a SOCOM 16 yesterday down at Jensen Arms, but the price was a little too high for me. Found a good price ($200 cheaper then the SOCOM), and bought a Scout Squad online this morning. I was looking for a Scout anyway, but almost went for the shorty, glad I searched some more and waited and found what I really wanted.

OP, can I ask what MRD that is? do you have a co-witness with irons? and what do you think of it so far?
I've been considering one for my scout, and just looking for more info :)

Good choice; I want to get the Scout Rifle though; a nice balance (IMHO) between the SOCOM-16 and the full sized M1A.

I'm not the op, but no way that Cowitnesses. Put an UltiMac on it and it might be lower 1/3

lilMAC is correct, it does not cowitness. That's why it is in the Larue QD mount. If need be, I can take it off in a second.
