would anyone happen to know the rate of twist for a 580 series (manufactured 10/09) mini 14 tactical?
thanks.
current is 1-9. afaik, they always have been.
Had a stainless Series 181 in 1982. 1-10 twist.

This.
When they came out in the 80's they originally had a 1 in 10 twist. This was changed in 1987 to a 1 in 7 twist to help stabilize the military grade 62 grain rounds. They soon figured out that 1 in 7 was too much and changed it to 1 in 9 in 1996 where it has been ever since.

this is what i wanted to confirm.
i reload and have always used 55 gr. Nosler B/T bullets.
would like to add that i've put 500 rounds (all hand loads) through the rifle without a hiccup.
great shooter.
I've been running 62grn and 69 grn. through mine also without a hick up.
Here's how you can check twist in your other guns.
IIRC the Mini 14 was introduced around 1973. My neighbor had a bicentennial edition marked Made in the 200th year of American liberty.
I seem to recall it having a 1-12 twist but I could be wrong.
