Hey guys,

I orderd a PSA 10.5" barrel (Barrel) and it showed up yesterday.

It says A2 style profile. What is the difference between this and an M4 profile Barrel?

I believe the A2 it straight. M4 profile has the skinny part in the barrel for the M203.

Correct. You'll like that PSA 10.5---mine runs like a champ.

They probably meant to say government profile.

Skinny under the hand guards, and heavy past the front sight.

From what I understand FN makes the barrels for Palmetto State. My plans are a MK18 style build with a BattleComp 2.0 and a Gemtech Halo.

I would agree with this. They probably meant to say govt profile due to the fact that a 10.5" barrel would not have the N203 cuts.

So what your saying is that there is not difference?

I would call the 10.5 a A2/gov profile

Why did they go to a heavier barrel profile on the M4A1???
And isnt that normally called a SOCOM profile now?

The Socom has flats on the side of the barrel under the handguard for the M203 to mount to the barrel. Previous A2 profile barrels had the M203 mount around the barrel as well, but did not needs flats due to the barrel diameter.

Fatter barrels were for sustained auto fire.

Mine runs great! Just ensure you get a HEAVY BUFFER AND SPRING
