Schedule A Property Confusion
I plan on listing my lower receiver that I'm going to have SBRd on my Schedule A. Since it is not a NFA item (yet), is it OK to list it? I'm just wanting to show my ownership of the lower receiver in the Trust. I know the Trust cannot take possession of the NFA item until my Form 1 is approved, but my lower receiver is not currently a NFA item....this is why I'm thinking it's OK to list my lower. I've read of people listing a dollar bill with the serial number in Schedule A. Why not just list the lower that's going to be SBRd....or does it even matter?
I've also read that once I get my Form 1 approved, I would amend my Schedule A to "change" my lower receiver from a Title 1 item to a NFA item. What does this mean/how do I do it and do I need to notify the ATF when I amend my Schedule A?
In texas your trust is suppose to be self supporting or so i was told
I put a $2 bill just in case in mine
The second part i cant help u with.. i added my suppressor to mine today
Just typed out who made it what it was and ser # but that maynot be right
Only been doing the trust stuff. A short time now since NObody will sign the paperwork here
Do it either way. List it as a rifle now, and SBR later... or just wait and list it after the stamp comes back.
In fact, I bet you could list it as a "Colt Rifle, serial number XYZ123" and just leave it that way after it is SBRed. I don't think the BATFE can dictate how you describe your items on your trust's schedule A.
Just list the important information on the rifle in your schedule a (ie: Manufacturer, MFG city/state, Model, S/N)
I've done 6 SBR's this way. All were listed in the trust's property when I sent the Form 1's in
you don't have to change your title 1 lower into an NFA item in your schedule A. I've never heard of that.
SBR is a configuration of a firearm, NOT a type of firearm. if you separate the short barrel from the rifle or replace it with a 16"+ barrel, it is no longer an SBR and can be transported or sold as a title 1 firearm.
stop over-complicating the process
Would listing your suppressor in the schedule a be done in the same way as a rifle
Sorry not trying to hyjack this

I believe if its on a Form 4 you don't list it until its been approved. Some say with the SBR since you have it in your possession already being a Form 1 you list those.

Interesting. Everyone seems to talk about amending Schedule A when Form 1 is approved.

who is everyone? I've never heard of this. they could be talking about leaving the schedule A blank, and then adding the items TO the schedule A once it's approved.
but the trust does NOT care nor differentiate between title I and title II firearms

People do amend Schedule As.
You add your suppressor to the schedule when the approval is complete....
You may wait to add a SBR to the schedule until the stamp comes back.
Or, simply list the rifle's basic info before approval and leave it at that.
Here's another question to make it even MORE complicated
What size envelope are you guys using to mail all the paperwork to the ATF? Seems like with all the documents folded a normal letter envelope (size #10) would be too thick.
Just curious.
