Not sure if this is the correct place to post this but will ask away since many on here have done some fantastic paint jobs on their rigs. I recently acquired and painted a B&C Medalist stock and am happy with the way my "custom camo" came out but am not happy with the apparent longevity of the paint job.
When I painted the stock I started by lightly sanding the factory finish to "rough it up" a bit in order to get the paint to stick better. I then sprayed away using camo spray paint (I believe Krylon). I am finding that the paint is holding up well in all areas except where I make regular contact with the rifle during shooting, i.e. the cheek weld and the palm swell.
Does anybody have any experience with adding a clear coat or some other more durable material to the stock to help it retain it's paint job longer?
And yes, I know worn spots add "character" but I still want my camo looking good.
A matte clear spray paint will increase the longevity. Just apply it on top of your desired color scheme.
Use it, and abuse it, let it show some wear, give it characer. Repaint when desired.

Just cuz I can. My rifle painted. It gets used, no matter the conditions. The paint is starting to wear a little (picture doesnt show it well) .
Just user it, and paint it again if your not happy.
