I recently came accross a Leupold VX-3 6.5-20x50mm mildot reticle that I can pick up for $600 without rings or ~$650 with quick release rings. I would be looking at immediately sending it back to Leupold to have M1 turrets installed at a cost of $129.
This would be sitting on top of a 700p LTR in .308 Win.
I'm having trouble finding a similar scope out there for sale to gauge whether or not this is a fair deal or not so I'm turning to you guys to see what your opinions are. My total cost would be ~$730-780 which would be at the extreme high end of what I am "comfortable" spending right now. Input?

Honestly look for another scope in that price range. Leupold is an ok scope but there are better for that price.

Thanks for the response. I have been looking at various scopes in this price range. Everything from Weaver Tactical to Burris XTR to Vortex Viper PST..... are any of those what you are thinking?

Any of those would be good. We have a lot of Weaver and Vortex fans here.
Bushnell Tactical is another good one to look into.
I have that exact same scope on my budget precision rifle. Only thing is mine doesnt have the mildot reticle. I too sent mine in and got the M1 turrets installed. It was around $125 for the turret install. Don't forget the shipping which you have to pay both ways. I sent mine UPS insured and the shipping was like $35 one way. So basically add about $75 for total shipping and you can have the turrets installed and your scope fully checked out. Only took about 4 weeks for me to get it back which was half the time the Leupold guy quoted me.

I will add to this that Leupold has great customer service. I sent mine in to get fixed and got it back within two weeks.
