Sent it back to Savage and they polished the chamber, replaced the rear baffle, took it to the range and it passed.

Got it back and it would not extract spent cases again.

After some time and some sunday school lessons said backward,I figured it out.

2.724" is the max case length specs.

This chamber will not cycle unless the case is 2.720"........004 under spec.

Just thought you should know.

What brand of brass?

I know a couple of guys new to the 338LM, but getting the new BA 110 Savages, were having issues with Hornady brass sticking in their chambers. Norma and Lapua were fine for some odd reason. It was over on Snipers Hide a good year back, FWIW.

Sticking cases is not new to the 338LM Savages.

I use only Lapua brass.

My 110 BA was an earlier production model, obtained shortly after its availability. I have not encountered the specific problem you mentioned with mine. I have shot almost exclusively 300 grain Scenar Lapua loaded factory ammunition, with the occasional Hornady 285 grain factory load. My rifle really shines with the heavier bullets and groups exceptionally well. I am sorry to hear about your problems with OAL/ case length.

I have enjoyed the Savage enough that I am considering purchase of a Savage Long-Range Hunter or Savage HS Precision model as well in .338 Lapua. I do not expect it to shoot quite as good as the 110 BA, but it seems to be a good alternative for hunting/ backpacking purposes, as I do not want to haul around the weight and awkwardness of the 110 BA. I also have a Custom Remmy in .338 Lapua, but find myself shooting the Savage more, especially at extended ranges.

Thanks for the info though, I will be sure to look out for it on additional rifles.
