Just Right 45ACP carbine. First impressions. (Update)_
I picked one of these up at a gun show yesterday. Under $600 out the door. Seems to be well built and well finished. Not a light weight like my Hi-point carbine. I have fired about 75 rounds through it. One stovepipe and one failure to eject. This while using Aguila ammunition. I shot 50 rounds of Aquila 230 grain FMJ. Since the carbine is new I half expected this. I also shot 25 rounds of ATI re-manufactured 185 gr FMJ ammunition. These ran without any problems. The trigger while not light does break clean. I shoot a lot of milsurp rifles and it actually feels pretty good to me.
The carbine handles and shoots like an AR. It even has standard AR stock mounting so have get a lot of possibilities there. You can even get kits to convert it to other calibers if you want.
One thing that really turns me off is the friggin Glock magazines. We are limited to 10 rounds here in NY. It is almost impossible to load more than 9 rounds in these. Even squeezing 9 in was quite a chore. Especially in the winter with cold hands. I was able to fit 10 just once for each mag. I am leaving them loaded with 9 rounds to see if they break in like the mags did for my Hi-Point. I am not sure if Glock ,magazines in other calibers are so difficult to load, but it is a major turn off to Glock for me. I may get the kit to convert it to standard 1911 magazines. I guess I will have to get the Uplula loader for now.
I put a Barska Electro Sight Multi Reticle on it. Actually a pretty good little device. Not my Eotech by any means but it was 1/8 the cost. Once I got it sighted in, it shot pretty good. I was plinking at shards of clays at about 40 yards and it hit them if I did my job. This carbine did get pretty dirty and it was actually effecting pulling back the bolt after 60 rounds or so. This my be ammunition related. I hope so. I have some Federal ammunition to try next. There is no last round hold open and with the new mags I have you could not load it while the bolt was closed. It mentions this in the manual. I blame it on how tight the Glock magazines are.
If you are a lefty like me, you definitely need to change ejection ports as you get a face full of powder if you don't. As soon as I can find my AR wrench I intend to do just that.
UPDATE on 1/28/12:
Ran another 100 rounds through it today. No failures of any sort. One thing I did notice is that the BlazerBrass was very dirty ammunition. Every casing was covered with soot. After I ran this I ran 50 rounds of PPU 230gr FMJ. Like my other experiences with PPU ammo in other calibers, very clean running ammunition. The casings were very clean after shooting. After cleaning all the soot from the carbine I have decided that PPU wil be my ammo of choice for this carbine.
So I am pleased with the reliability and accuracy of this carbine. Less pleased with how dirty it can get. I do not see anyone shooting 1,000 rounds through their's before cleaning. It has handled three different kinds of ammunition without any problems. I have modified the springs in my Glock mags as per the Just Right web site and it has run great. It is kind of neat that for $75 or so I an convert the gun to run 1911 mags. Switch over is very easy.
.45's are hard to fully load until they are broken in because the casings take up so much space. I havent noticed that this is limited to glock magazines. A few dozen cycles of the magazine should have it broken in.. In the meantime work out your hands a bit or get a mag loader. Fwiw, I carry a glock 30 and have never been unable to load 10 rounds in any of the mags for it.
Pics??
Cool.
Glad you are liking.
I am hoping, but not expecting,
for them to make one that takes P14 mags.
I think you will like the Federal Champion ammo.
Cleanest shooting ammo any where near that price,
and if it was large pistol instead of small pistol primers in it I would get it instead of Winchester white box.

Hoping for XD magazines myself.....
... One thing that really turns me off is the friggin Glock magazines...
And that's the very reason that I
am so interested in it (of course, mine aren't limited to 10).
The very next one I come across locally in .45 will be coming back home with me.
(I've only seen one here, but I had just bought a Beretta TX4 at the previous store and didn't want to "spend too much" that day... in retrospect, I should have, as it was gone the next time I went there.)
The spring in the Glock magazine also needs to be modified to insure better reliability. It can stovepipe if the mod is not done. The mag that comes with the carbine has already had this done. It is a simple mod and is shown on the Just Right site. You simply bend up the last coil to put a little more pressure on the back of the follower. Whether this would affect pistol operation I don't know. I purchased an extra mag when I got the carbine and I did have one stovepipe before the mod but none since. Three more mags on the way.
I'm interested in the version that takes 1911 mags.
