Camp 9 price check (update w/ pics I Picked It Up)

I've been looking for a 9mm carbine. I'm pretty much settled on a camp 9. I've seen them priced all over the place. At a fun show last week I seen 2 priced at $625 and $650. Looking at GB I seen a rough one for $425 and a nice one at $640.
Am I missing something on the prices of these things? That just seems so high, or is the market really that well on them?
My LGS has a next to new camp 9 with (3) oem 12 round mags in the box with all papers $550. I guess I want to make sure the market is that strong on them before I pull the trigger.

Thanks

I haven't checked lately, but that's probably a "fair" price for like-new... I'd still try to get it cheaper, of course.

These have been out of production for a long time and are getting harder and harder to find in that condition.

Even like new, I would replace the recoil buffer before you ever fire it as a precaution. Also be aware that the Marlins were never rated for +P/+P+ ammo.

Good luck, I love mine.

Cheapest I've seen lately is $450 for one in rough shape.

It is one of those "don't miss it until it's gone" guns. Same can be said of the colt mustang, detective special, and until recently, many Winchester models.

I have a Camp 9 I found from a smaller dealer last year at a local gun show. It was covered in dust and clearly had been sitting for a long time. I picked it up for a fair price. Took it home and did the complete tear-down and inspection thing, as I do on all my firearms used or new. I highly recommend this for any firearm before you actually fire it. Anyway, under the dust was a Camp 9 that wasn't even shot enough to be broken in completely. The original yellow plastic buffer had fallen apart, as they do from sitting with oil on them. I replace this with a Black Jack buffer and a new recoil spring, using the slightly heavier Wolff one. I would do both of those upgrades to any used Camp I found BEFORE I ever fired it. If you shoot one with a bad buffer you stand a good chance of breaking some parts that are very difficult to find.

Last summer it seemed the average price for a Camp 9 around here was about $450.

I went ahead and picked it up. I tore it down to clean and it has a blue buffer that seems fine. I went ahed and ordered a new one along with a new spring. My photo skills stink but heres a pic. I took a close up to try to show the finish. It is nice

OH! You got a NICE one, for sure! Well finished stock, three magazines and is that the factory sticker on the bottom of the stock? The blue buffer is the Black Jack, felt by many to be the best one. I think he says they are good for at least 5,000 rounds. Put the upgrade Wolff spring in it and its a sweet little rifle.

I think you have a fine looking rifle there.

Nah, it ain't worth it. They are a piece of crap.

So....where is this pawn shop?

I was actually trying to find a Camp 9 when I found a Ruger PC9 instead.
I love the Ruger, but still would like to have a Marlin.

If it's in decent shape, grab it –– fun little carbines.

Which shop? Also, beware of used ones if you can not pop them open for a look see inside. Some are broken and need parts that are "difficult" to find.

Odd. They seem to go a lot cheaper in wisconsin. I "know someone" who's selling one and has only gotten offers well below the ones listed here. (This is NOT a for-sale post. I'm just commenting that the price certainly seems to vary by region.)

They are high here in Pa. I've been watching them. The 'deal' I think, is the one on the EE. It's brand new for $500 IIRC. I wish I seen that before I bought mine.

I have 3 Camp 9s, well kinda, 2 are off getting integrally suppressed. I'm trading 1 of them for the suppressor. Also have a Camp 45, thinking of having it suppressed as well.

I really like these Camp carbines, the .45s are going for about 1k now.

Replace the buffer, I already destroyed 1 stock.
