Best Uzi???
i am wanting to buy a brand new Uzi, and am trying to figure out which one is the best one.
Should I get a Vector Arms Uzi, or a Century Arms like the one here...

I have heard about the new really nice US made receivers that are being used by some, and are curious if either of these guns use these?
Thanks everyone,
Mike
I would go with the IMI manufactured - Action Arms imported UZis; they are the best.
Nodak is making UZI receivers now and he is garnering a lot fo interest here. Also offering semi bolt and striker assemblies as well.

Of course an original IMI is the best no question. Vector would be my second choice if you want to save some cash.

Thanks to boht of you guys. Looks like I'll be ordering an original IMI one this summer. There are a lot of nice ones out there for sale. Not hard to find at all. Is $1300 the normal price for these?

The IMI/Action Arms can be had cheaper if you look hard enough...

As stated, IMI would be the best choice.
I would vote for a Model A over a Model B but both are great weapons.
There is no comparison between a century and Vector. I would take a Vector at a reasonable price any day. I would then pick a Norinco if you ever come across one well before looking at a Century. Century has a bad rep on many of their concoctions.
The Century I handled was poor quality, fit and finish was sloppy, and not worth the $700 they were asking. If you ever handle one try this test - remove the barrel.
After I took the barrel nut off and slid the barrel out, I pointed the weapon muzzle down, and the muzzle nut catch and corresponding spring fell out in my hand. Two relatively small parts that would easily get lost. That doesn't happen on an IMI, I would venture to guess that it would not happen on the Vector or the Norinco either.

I currently own a century uzi and I am happy with it. Finish wasnt bad on mine, it is accurate and has not jammed yet. I probably shot some 500 rounds trough it so far. But I do agree century has a bad rep.
So looking at IMIs. I notice I can get several different calibers. Currently ALL the pistols I own are 45 acp. it would be nice to not have to buy new 9mm ammo as well just for this one gun. What are you guys opinions of 45 acp ammo? Is the Uzi well suited for it, or is 9mm really where this gun shines......plus the cost is half as much.
I've heard of the .45 IMI's but have never handled one. They are much harder to come across. I wouldn't have any hesitation to get the .45. I can put 32 rounds of 9mm off a rest at 25 yards in about a 50 cent piece without trying very hard. Never tried scoping it to see what it would really do.
I've shot both the A and B and a buddy has a Norinco that seems fairly solid.
There really is just one choice. The Action Arms Import from IMI which was imported during the pre ban years. If you cannot afford a IMI Uzi then i would look for Vector build that used all IMI parts including the original IMI receiver. The receiver designed by Group Industries is not IMI spec and its sights are not in spec, the dog ears on the front and rear are narrow and taller then the original
I have several Action Arms import guns both in A & B models and they are the ticket. My Vector gun is as close as you could get to an original, it came finished in dark grey parkerized finish in the model B and had a 9mm/45 acp die roll marking The build was completed in first rate fashion by Vector and in some ways is more attractive with the original grey ghost finish.
The Century made Uzi looked ok but i observed to many tool markings or friction areas on the finish, welds looked functional but not to the same standards of IMI or Vector. The hinge release button to allow the stock to unfold from the closed position required a extensive amount of force to activate and the price of over 800.00 dollars was just a good excuse to save your dollars and buy an original.
The China made Uzi, well i used mine as a sonar target, and the butt hole stock as fire wood. LOL
Vector, built to MG spec (maybe not exact IMI spec) with hardened steel, will last a lifetime. The only transferable IMI Uzis in the US that are built to MG specs are the pre 68' imports, the ones after the GCA were converted semi-autos originally built for the US civilian market. The Group Industries receivers used by Vector were brought into spec before being built, but i have heard of many problems with other Uzis built from GI receivers. Most of the other parts on the Vectors were S. African. But if you're only looking for semi-auto I guess it doesn't matter as much, IMI and Vector are both great, never heard anything bad about the Norincos either, but haven't owned one myself so can't vouch for them. I avoid Century like the plague. People can talk all day about how they "bought one for $700 and it works great", but I doubt any of those individuals have really put the guns to any significant use. A few hundred rounds doesn't mean anything. I put at least 1500 rds through my Vector every single time I take it out and that's in full-auto. The gun shows very little wear at all and NEVER malfunctions. I'm sure if you ask around you'll find plenty of similar stories about Vector Uzis. I can't imagine many guns holding up better.
I had a Norinco and sold it. Not that it had any problems or anything, functioned fine, was accurate enough and I bought the compliance parts to de-ban it but if I kept it I was going to SBR it. I found a deal on a Vector factory SBR NIB so I went with that instead.
Original mags for the .45 Uzi are super expensive. I'd suggest you pose your questions on the Uzitalk website.
Best of luck whatever you decide.
Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.
I have a Vector Mini Uzi and love it. The price was good and so is Vector's customer service. I called them up when I had a question and they knew everything about my gun based on the serial number.

I have a Vector Uzi Carbine & the muzzle nut catch & spring will fall out when muzzle down without barrel installed.
Not a big deal though, the Vector functions perfectly.I recommend it.
I just bought a new Vector and love it, I ran 400 rounds through it over the weekend with no jams and ran 100% Gotta love VECTOR.
