Just ordered an Olympic Arms 10mm upper!
I'm stoked, I've wanted a 10mm PCR for a while and Midway finally had one come in.
It'll be my first Olympic anything, and I feel like I'm slumming a bit, but ya do what ya gotta do
Report to follow when the brown truck brings it.

I am interested in how you like it and how it will perform. If you are going to get a pistol upper it might as well be the best caliber which is 10mm.
What are the mags like for it?
$45.44 mags on the Olympic Arms website! Might be a little cheaper elsewhere, but I was scraping pennies to buy the upper when it became available, so extra mags are going to have to wait a bit. They may be a little cheaper elsewhere, but I haven't looked hard yet
If you insist on taking the bolt apart, do it over a mat or somewhere that you'll easily find the little spring that will go flying. I'm lucky I found mine.
I have both the 10mm and .45 ACP Oly uppers. The only problems I've had with the 10mm is that loading the magazine beyond 10 rounds is a real struggle. I've never gotten it full.
Thanks for the bolt tip.
I got it today and I can say that while I am glad to now own a 10mm upper, I'm glad that I didn't have high expectations of the fit and finish. There's nothing I can point to, just overall I wasn't impressed.
As far as function goes, I don't have a rear sight for it yet, so I just fired five rounds NTCH using just the front sight and managed to put all of them in a 4" circle at 50'. There was a very distinct change in feel on the last round, I actually thought I'd had a squib load, but it was just the bolt locking back.
I did notice the magazine was very stiff to load, and longer than a standard AR mag.
I had fun shooting it, but I did notice that as a left handed shooter, I got a cheek full of hot particles with each shot. Not enough to burn, but it's annoying. The brass also came out very dented on the case mouth.
Once I get a rear sight for it I'm going to play with loads for it, but for now I'm glad I have it. I just wish RRA or some similar manufacturer would make one.
I have one of the early "rhino hump" 10mm oly's. I changed the upper receiver and could not believe how light weight it was.
Weighed half what the Armalite receiver that replaced it with did. No way it was mil spec.
If you get a chance please post some pictures of the carrier and the bolt.
Any updates? I have been thinking about buying one but keep reading mixed reviews. How is reliability? Accuracy? Any issues? Knowing what you know now, would you recommend it?
thanks

The accuracy is pretty good. I haven't tried it at 100 yard yet, but at 50 yards I can keep a 3" circle with my 180 gr reloads. I haven't put it in the benchrest yet to see what the gun can shoot, that's just me on the tabletop. I have about 300 rounds through it so far and zero problems. I have a RDS mounted on it, but I think I want to put a 3x9 on it.
I'm still not thrilled with the finish, but I am overall happy to have it. The main reason I would recommend it is because it is one of the only options for 10mm, but I would buy it again if I had to do it over again. If you can get it when Midway is having one of their deals then more the better. My next step is to load up and down different bullet weights and see what the optimal loading for it will be.

Ive built quite a few DI/gas operated ones. The 10mm is a natural for this. I get my GG follower finalized & it will be easy to convert GG mags to fit in stock lowers. 35rnds of fun.
Steve and company:
I have several Olympic Arms pistol caliber rifles including a 9mm and 10mm carbine and an Oly 45 acp AR pistol too with is a blast.
You can order directly from Olympic Arms and probably get your 10mm carbine much faster than going through any retailer.
I have no more issues with my Olys than I have with my Spikes Tacticals, Bushmasters or DPMS rifles. Oly had some customer service issues stemming from a factory fire a long time ago and people keep re-surfacing those issues. The time for bashing them has ended.
The key advantages to running an Oly system:
1. Use any old lower you want - no special hammer or mag release modifications, they have a spring ejector installed into their uppers
2. They have the most experience with all of the the pistol caliber conversions (357 sig has been abandoned in the blowback design and must be DI)
3. They are the largest AR manufacturer west of the Mississippi
4. They manufacture their own accessories such as flash hiders with the correct tpi for 10mm and 45 ACP
5. They have a lifetime warranty and when I was building my 45 ACP pistol - they helped me and helped me with some Sten mag malfunctions when I was getting FTF in my 9mm carbine;
6. They are the number one manufacturer of all pistol caliber AR-15 carbines in .22lr, 9mm, 40SW, 10mm, and 45 acp. No one else makes production runs of 10mm or 40SW carbines. You can even get them to build you pistol caliber AR pistols.
and
7. They are building and selling factory polymer 10mm magazines that are built like tanks, require no mag blocks, and look great. Previously, you have to spend $100 to get an Uzi 45/41 mag and then have them weld a mag block to it for 10mm and 45 acp. Well they invested big bucks and now have great mags that fit your AR pistol upper like a glove. They only work on their uppers. Check it out:
Tips: If you are shooting factory 10mm ammo, an extar power recoil spring for your buffer tube is a must. A Hahn extra heavy pistol caliber buffer from Brownells also tames the recoil.
About my Oly 10mm carbine:
Mine is set up for 50-100 yard shots and with my handloads from a rested position, I can nail 1-2" groups at 60 yards and slightly larger at 100 yards.
Mine was built two years ago and has been flawless through hundreds of rounds.
Oly is your answer. Here is mine - 16" carbine with YHM free float tube, an Oly Arms 10mm flahs hider (no one else makes these in production), EoTech red dot scope, YHM flips front and rear, Magpul ACS stock - my pig and deer rifle:

I had an oly 10mm. With a heavy buffer & spring it would still toss cases a county mile. It would also bumpfire on its own. Plus you never know if/when its going to fire out of batery

Blowback is what it is but there are better options out there.
Dont forget they cut everyone out for parts/uppers while they got their mags off the ground.
Oly also changed their sales policies. I had a non-FFL dealer account and made a good bit of money making custom .45 upper receivers with Oly parts. Now you have to have an FFL and a store front to get a dealer account. They canceled my dealer account. Fuck them.
