Im considering getting a BLR in 358 winchester. Anyone here have one, heard anything bad about it?
I've had one in .243 for about 16 years and love it. I've been thinking about picking up a ghost ring and scout scope set-up for it, but its pretty low on the priority list. As is, the gold bead and open rear sight is plenty good for deer out to 200 yards.
Good caliber and a decent rifle. Some do not like the ergonomics on it, so make sure you get a feel for it before you order. The .358 is a good round for most North American game. The BLR is a strong design, and some outfits are customizing them. Rumor (very reliable source) has it that Wild West Guns are modifying a BLR to accommodate the .375 Ruger, so this should attest to the strength of the action. I believe, if memory serves me correctly, which it often does not, that it is a geared type of lever action. Let us know if you get it, or even if you don't, and let us know the details. Best of Luck OP!

Correct geared action. I have a Belgium made BLR chambered in .308. Great gun and very well made. I purchased mine in the 70's new and it has seen a lot of use over the years and shows it. I even dropped it out of a tree stand once and cracked the stock but it is still one of my favorite rifles. I don't think you will be disappointed with it if you get one.
