I know it's a crime but what would be a good paint/finish to paint the wood matte black on my 1894?

My marlin .44 is at grizzly custom getting cut back to 16" and threaded for a suppressor. It won't have a front or rear sight. Just an XS scout mount and a lower power scope. I'd like synthetic furniture but nobody makes it for the 1894.

What would work best for a nice matte black finish on wood? Krylon, Duracote, Alumahyde, etc.

Duracoat would be my first choice. A very close second choice would be Duplicolor spray on truck bed liner. This will result in a fairly rough textured finish, however.

I have tried it on a couple of stocks, and it worked pretty well, and wore very well. One of those stocks now has Krylon over the truck bed liner, and that worked out pretty well too.

A good ebony stain would work well and look nice, too.

A number of folks have used bedliner material. Here's a link about it.
