Henry .22LR Question UPDATE in OP, the Rifle is back!!!
I recently purchased a Henry .22LR from gunbroker. It looks good, pretty clean, but it looks like it has had a few rounds through it. Question:
When you cycle the action, if I dont do it crisply, the hammer falls back to the closed position with the bolt. when I have the action all the way open, if I lightly press down on the bolt, the hammer will "click" and engage and lock back to fire. Is this just wear, is this normal, and if not, ideas?
Thanks!
I got home from work today, and UPS Guy had left a present for me! The rifle is back, and it is in perfect working order. Talk about a quick turn around, it has only been at Henry for less than a week, and it is already back. Made in the U.S.A! I will definitely buy another Henry rifle when the time comes.
I've got a Henry and I love it. Henry has great customer service, give them a call and I bet they will take care of you. Contact info is on their web site and they don't care if you are the first or the tenth owner. Good luck
Great, I will do that, thanks!
If you bought it as a 'NIB' rifle it shouldn't have been fired. If that's the case, I'd be on the phone to Bud's and shoot them some pictures of what you received. Also, Henry will make any issue on that rifle good. The President of the Company is usually the one that responds to your emails. Once you get it working right they are fun little shooters.

Was not a NIB purchase. Seller did say it was in "Great Condition" and it was not. Speckling on the barrel and then the function not 100%. But buyer beware... He is getting a poor feedback for the transaction, but overall I like the weapon, and am not sorry for buying it.
Give Henry a call. You won't believe how helpful they are. Your Henry will be fixed up first rate, even if they have to replace large parts of it. I've even heard of them just replacing the rifle completely on one that they were embarrassed to find out that it left their factory.
Good Luck, Bought one, put a $7.00 cheapo scope on it and had my Wife shoot it last week.
I think I've lost it now because she loves it...... Good thing I've got a Rossi Ranch Hand in 44...
Dave
Added: I've only heard great things about Henry, the company...
I've had several rifles and loved them..
Update. I received an email from Henry. I am shipping the rifle to them, and they said it will be corrected at no cost, just the shipping to them. Customer Service is not a dirty word for them. I still have faith in American products. Thanks for all the input...

Another update: Rifle sent to Henry. Seller has pitched in to split cost of the shipping, since he said he wanted to make this right. He did offer to take the weapon back, no questions asked, but I declined. I figure I got it at a good price, if Henry is going to fix the issue and send me the rifle back at no other cost than my shipping, I would be dumb to get another rifle, and what is to say I dont have the same issue, worse, or not.
Update an pictures to follow, when she returns.
GREAT customer service, good to hear since I have a Henry 22 coming from Buds now!
just saw this a little late. The President's name is Anthony Imperato and he is absolutely the best regarding customer service.
I had some initial minor issues with my NIB and could not believe how quickly it was resolved.
My rifle is with them right now. I received a confirmation letter earlier this week, and I am looking forward to getting it back and shooting it. Thanks to all for the recommendations and responses. Pics to follow when it returns.
