Recommend me a bed-side pistol vault please.

I browsed all of the forum pages and didn't see a thread concerning bed-side pistol vaults. If I missed it, please point out my lack of observation skills.

Otherwise, I am looking for a bed-side pistol vault. This will be for a home defense pistol, Glock 17 or 19, with a Streamlight TLR-2. I am under no delusion that this 'safe' will prevent theft (when I am not home). I am only looking for some way to keep the pistol out of the reach of children (I have several little cousins and a niece or nephew on the way). Locking the bedroom door is a less-than-preferable option as I don't want to exclude my entire room in case of visitors.

A few considerations:
This has to be accessible by my SO. She has trouble with bio-metric locks (I have one on my front door). I wouldn't want a high-stress situation adding to the difficulty level. Unless the bio-metric lock is basically bullet proof, this option is off the table.

My preference is towards something that is easily opened the first time by an adult with proper combination. I would also prefer as quiet as possible, but this is a secondary consideration.

Preference on size is small enough to fit in a nightstand, even if this turns out to be a custom made cabinet (which is probably the direction I will go).

I am leaning towards the Gunvault MVB5000. Any thoughts on this vault? Any suggestions on others you have positive personal experience with?

Thanks in advance. I consider myself lucky to have found the great resource which is ARFCOM.

I have a bigger gunvault and it is is quick for me to get into. I keep two guns in mine. I have it just to keep the kids out of it. Once you program it just practice opening it a few times and it will become very easy.

I have had the big GunVault (now called MultiVault) for 14 years. It has worked flawlessly and holds 3 handguns (my CCW, the wife's CCW and our house gun with mounted flashlight). Its big, but fits in our bedside cabinet.

I use a FAS-1 safe as my personal bedside safe.

It's built very heavily, uses a Simplex mechanical lock, and is manufacturerd by a fellow gun enthusiast. As the door raises, it lifts the holstered gun into a drawable position. It's a dandy design.

Some good recommendations. Thanks guys. I hadn't found the FAS-1 in my research, that's a unique design. And the more I think about it, if I go with the Gunvault, I'm probably going to like the larger one... I see some benefit to storing some extra items in there now.

Keep 'em coming please.

This new model interests me, I'd like to see what it could fit:

Just FYI, any one of those bedside "safes" that has a key lock, are super easy to get into with a lockpick. I would consider them more for keeping kids away from guns, then a real "safe".

FIFY. They are all easy to break into, though with a lock pick, you can do it without someone knowing you did it. That's not a concern for most thieves or kids hellbent on getting at your gun.

I still think they have their applications, but none will survive an actual "attack" of any kind.

I like mechanical locks for pistol boxes. I use a v-line compact and a top draw. Both use the Kaba Simplex lock.
