In the market for a safe/RSC. $1800 budget. Small collection of 4 long rifles and 3 pistols. I am sure it will grow a little but my budget is firm (for all the GO BIGGER dudes.) I plan on buying a much larger safe (Probably a Sturdy 4824) in the next 5 years and I can move this smaller one to the bedroom. After much research I had initially decided on the Liberty Franklin 25. Seems like a nice safe/RSC. Made in America. Good warrenty. 60min fire rating. Come standard with the light kit, electrical kit, dehumidifier and door storage. After calling around for prices to a local safe depot, I am now conflicted.

The salesman told me that he had what in his opinion was a better safe/RSC for about the same money (+$100) in the Superior Master series. I have never checked them out but seems like a good safe/RSC. 90min fire rating. Looks like a more secure door. External hinges (big plus for me). Believe it comes standard with door kit, electrical, dehumidifier as well. Light kit is extra but I have heard the Liberty light kit is a joke and basically just 2 batt powered LEDs that don't put out much light anyway. I tried researching online and the Superior company website is WEAK. I am having a hard time finding too many reviews/good sites that talk about the Superior. Looks pretty good/comparable though and now I am torn on which one to get. Its a big purchase and I want to make the best informed decision I can. Which is why I come to you guys.....thoughts?

Own a Franklin and am pleased with it. Don't know anything about the Superior. Home Depot has the same LED lights that Liberty used for around $12 a piece if you need more light.

Thanks, Swampfaox3. Good to know about the LEDs. I thought that was pretty much what they were. Have you had any issues with your Franklin at all? Do you find the door storage useful? Seems like a nice safe.

I think the door storage is great. It saves storing all those handguns in the main part of the safe which may not be a big issue for you now but when you expand your collection you will enjoy having it.

No issues. The only "issue" I had was having to take off an interior door frame to get it into my basement.

Upon re-reading this morning I realized you said the 25 above. I have the 50.

No worries. Same safe, only yours is on steroids. Thanks again for the feedback. Glad you like the Franklin.

I also currently have the Franklin 50. I am going to be adding a Graffunder when we move to the new house, but will definitely keep the Franklin. For the money, it is a great safe. And the door storage is really nice. I put things like pocket knives, choke tubes, speed loaders etc. into all the little pockets.

I just got a superior Master. I got a deal on it because it had a couple scratches. So far I really like it, but I can't say it's much better or worse than the Franklin.

I vote for the Superior Master. Go look at the two of them, you will see the difference in construction and it will make you a believer. The Master does come with door storage as well. Not quite as laid out as the Liberty system, but it is still nice.

Cool, fellas. Thanks for the replies.

I'm headed down to the local safe store this week to check them out. I am leaning towards the Superior Master at this point. IF I can fit it into my budget. Ill check back in with an update/review later if all goes well.
