Liberty safe: purchase outlet kit, or run power strip?
Having a Liberty Timber Ridge delivered later this week. It comes with a hole for an outlet kit, with a plug in it. You can purchase the outlet kit, or leave the plug in place. My question: is it really worth the price ($32) for the cord kit? Any problem with just running a power strip? I can't see why a cord and splitter would run $32, but it does come with the plug filler piece (so there's no gap or airspace for, say, a mouse to get in the safe.
Also, I see they have motion sensing safe lights. They are slick, but not worth the price. Any similar aftermarket lights? Checked the local places, and they have lights that will work, but nothing motion activated like that. Not a big issue, but worth asking.
As with anything...buy once, cry once.
I tend to go with fitted components myself.

I agree that it would be ideal, but $32 for a cord and adapter that cost less an $5 total is what kills me. And it's not like you'll see it anyway, as the plug is on the back of the safe. Hell, I could drill a hole in the plug, use a grommet, and make it look like a factory job. Just wasn't sure if their fitted component was designed with some special unobtanium that helped reduce damage in a fire or flood.
The safe is fire tested with the hole open and pyrometer probe wiring ran in through it. You can run a power strip instead if you like, there is nothing special about the plug in kit.

Exactly what I was looking for. That answers my next question about running a USB or data line into the safe.
Thanks!
I put usb and cat5e in the liberties all the time. You just trim out the plug in kit with a dremel and re-install the plug in kit to the safe with the wires ran in there along side it. All the stuff will fit easily without the kit installed if you go that route.
