Looks like they've come down in price somewhat. Anyone installed them on their 556 recently?

I had a set on my recently sold 556 Classic. The same set is on the 556 Patrol I have on layaway. I'm very happy with the 556 rifles themselves. However, the rotary diopter rear sight is cheap feeling and not anywhere near the quality of the rest of the rifle. The front sight is fine, the main problem with it is that its not the right height for AR type backup sights, it only works with the rotary diopter (or the flip up rear in the 556 rail). If you have a 556 without the hooded front sight, do yourself a favor and get a set from MI or one of the other companies that offers AR height 556 sights.

Guess what? The SIG556 is NOT an AR, and expecting it's sights to be the same height as an AR is ignorant.

I suspect you will see many parts for the 556/551 series begin to come down.

Thanks for the useful input. My point was that there isn't a good rear sight option for the 556 that doesn't also involve replacing the front sight also. I understand its not an AR. The rotary diopter is basically ChiCom junk, and finding any other rear sight that works with the hooded front is tough at best.

As much as I like rotary sights and would like to keep the 556 looking 55X, the troy micro rear with the swiss front is the combination I'm likely to end up with.

I coulnt get the diopter sight to sight in. Ditched the sights and put an ACOG on.
