Anyone have a Sig Reddot? Does the base come off?

I have a Sig Saur Red Dot that I want to mount to a DD mount for use on my .22 AR.

I took the screws out of the standard base on the optic and still can't get it to come off. I've tried prying it off but all I do is mar the finish on the standard mount.

Anyone else have this problem? Does the base even come off?

I've never heard of anyone putting a different mount on it. I gather the Primary Arms T1 copy can come apart. You can even get an alternative mount of some kind on their site.
It may destroy the light but heat may work. I know I have a Fenix T1 Flashlight I wanted to take the pocket clip off and I had to heat the light up in the oven in order to get it appart. Unfortunately there may be plastic parts in the Sig red dot sight. This could make it susceptable to damage from heat.

You could try mounting it to a rail and using something for a fulcrum that would protect the rail as you pry up on the main body of the sight using the lens cover as your point of contact. It looks as if it should come apart.

Keep us informed please.

Edit. Located page on another forum where guy says they will fit T1, H1 Mounts.

Yep,

I use mine on a Ruger suppressed pistol.

When I had to do this with an aimpoint, I just threw it on the ground a few times and the base came off.

Not convinced I'd try that with the Sigdot, though...

Yes, it will come off.

Mine had a large glob of Locktite between the base and body. Had to "tap" it off.

Now the LaRue base has trippled the value of it!
