Sorry for such an elementary question, but I have never owned or shot a piston-driven rifle. What steps do I need to take BEFORE shooting for the first time? Thanks, CC
If you take it apart to clean it before you go shooting, make sure the gas holes line up on the barrel and the Gas key. Otherwise you wll have a single shot weapon. Dont ask how I learned this....

I did that too.

Welcome to the family. Short of the sound advice offered in the above posts, take it out, shoot it, enjoy! The Sig556 is a pleasure to shoot.
