I can't comment on that, but I can say that right now you have a few options:

1) Modify an AR grip. A bit of dremeling on the grip and you can mount pretty much any AR grip to a 556.

2) Simply throwing on a $12 Hogue Handall to the stock sig grip transforms it from crappy to really really comfortable.

I too really really want to see dedicated 556 grips and other accessories, I think there is a real hole in the market for these and someone needs to get on this, because us 556 guys want this stuff.

Until then, I would go with either of the options above (since both are cheap) and continue to wait for someone to drop a REAL 556 grip on the sig rifle community.

Yes, the rumors are true. The Scorpion Grip for the SIG556 is just finishing up T&E, and you should see some reviews popping up soon.

That's what I have been waiting for! It actually looks appealing & comfortable. I look forward to purchasing one.

Whats next Dawg? A lot of us (I see your covered) still need a rear sling attachment point lol.

Anyone know if it'll be available in FDE or just black?

Probably just black. His AUG products are only available in black & I would assume this would be made out of the same material.

OH man that looks about 100x better (ergonomically) than the default Sig556 grip.

I can't wait to give one of these a try!!!!

Can you talk about what storage options you might offer for the storage? I could see AA, CR123, and a bottle of gun oil being nice choices...along with one that would hold as many 5.56 rounds as possible.

This is great, this rifle needs more aftermarket support and I'm really glad to see someone doing something about it!

The grip is made of a different polymer than the other products. It will be offered in black, but "SIG green" is a possibility if there is enough interest. There are very, very few guns in FDE out there, but if there enough demand any color is a possibility.

The grip can store a pair of AA batteries or a set of CR123's with some spare room.

Not to hijack, but: Had to paint my "stock" 556 grip FDE to match the other (Magpul stock, rail covers) furniture since Sig won't sell the tan grips. They do make them, but they were only available in a limited run 556/pistol set.

If there isn't enough interest, I'd pay extra for a one-off if that’s a possibility?!?

Sweet. I have a Sig 522 and a 556 that could use a better grip. Looking forward to buying them when they are available.

This grip is starting to grow on me. Will there be more agressive checkering in the future?

Absolutely, the pictures are of a pre-production part that did not have a surface texture applied - it was being used for ergonomics and fit testing.

The final part will have a more aggressive slip-proof texture on it. Been finalizing that the last few weeks while the independent reviewers have been giving feedback on the fit and ergonomics of a couple of pre-production grips.

So, I assume the thumb reach to the safety will be much easier and more "AR"-like? The pistol grip is the only thing that I truly can't stand on my 556.

I see that it has a "thumb ledge" for the right handed shooter. Will it be a mirror image on the other side for lefties? Just a curious lefty wanting to know.

The grip is shaped the same on both sides- it works as a thumb ledge for your thumb and a scallop/guide for your trigger finger. The safety and mag release are easier to manipulate by the grip scooping in a bit more at the top - the biggest problem with the stock grip is it puts your hand too far back to manipulate the controls properly.

I'm tempted to dremel a Magpul MOE grip to fit my 522.... if only I wasn't afraid of totally screwing it up.

I glad to hear it is shaped the same on both sides. Please notify us when they are available. I will take two. Thanks.

Final mold is in process, no pics of the final grip yet, but should have some shortly.

Will this one work of the 556R? If so, it's looking quite nice.

It will work on all models of SIG556 including the pistol. classic, M4 stocked version, and 556R. They all use the same grip.

It actually should work on "real" SIG 550's too.

4-6 weeks is a a rough, conservative estimate- final parts should be off the mold very soon, but we want to abuse the first ones for a week or two just to make sure everything is 110%.

No problem!

It will be cutting it *ever* so close to have a few grips in hand by this Saturday, and in fact I may be bolting the first one on my personal SIG 556 right there at the Bullpup Shoot that morning!

Almost there, got the new grip bolted on the SIG556 at the Bullpup Shoot this morning and everyone liked the texturing and feel. Will post pics as soon as I find my camera in all the gear, LOL. It was a blast, but man was it a long day.

Doing our best to get stocked up before putting them on sale. That being said, keep your eyes peeled, I don't know if we will be able to keep up with packaging and shipping based on the recent responses!

Dawg sent me a Scorpion Grip for T&E on my daughter's 522. I'll have detailed pics and a review posted in a couple of days

This grip is night and day superior to OEM, and I'm really looking forward to putting it through its paces. My daughter has already "claimed" it though, so I might have trouble getting it away from her
