Still gonna try one..
I'll report back on the fit finish of mine Monday or Tues & have a range report shortly after.

Hopefully I don't have the same issues as this guy.

Just saw this! Hope it's just that rifle and not the whole line.

gonna post the same thing here i did in the other thread:

he takes the time to video the light primer strikes, but then later talks about other problems he doesnt film.

just an FYI, the problem he is having in the video is the SAME problem mine is having. its also the SAME problem my ar15 in x39 had, as well as many others, so much so they sell special modified firing pins to fix the problem.

its not a big deal and will probably only happen with russian ammo with hard primers and can be fixed in a few minutes by increasing the firing pin protusion slightly.

the only complaint of value in that video is the looseness of the rifle and the shitty stock.

Mine ran pretty well (1 light primer strike w/ Wolf) at a carbine match today (5 stages), FWIW.

I thought the 556R version would have been the most reliable of the 556 series. And the video reviewer previously turned down 3 others in the store before getting this one! Although he remains polite and doesn't start cussing, you can tell he is frustrated and I would be too. I hope big-wigs at SigSauerUSA are watching that, but I really think they don't care. So much for the "Personally inspected by XXX" signature card attacthed to each new rifle.

How ashamed that all of these US-made 556 series rifles were spawned from the ultra-reliable and prestigious 550/551 series.

I don't think the 556R will be as reliable as my previous classic in 5.56. That thing was a monster as was my 556p when I used to shoot it. The 556R may need a longer firing pin to get into the ultra reliable category. Time will tell.

the firing pin it has is fine. pull your bolt and press the firing pin against the edge of the table. now take a punch and push the firing pin in, and it will go further. the only thing stoping it is the rear of the bolt holding the hammer. sand down the rear of the bolt a little and it should be fixed. hell you could probably just run it without the firing pin spring and that would be enough, the hammer will throw it forward further without the spring pushing back.

I'm supposed to go pick my 556R up today...
I'm having real reservations about it now, I don't want to pay 1k+$ for a rifle and have to worry about sanding parts, removing parts, etc. I expect it to just work.
Maybe I should just get an Arsenal.

I just walked away from a NIB 556R - Considering this review, the cost of the gun, the "wobble" of the receiver(s) as well as the fwd grip... i couldn't see paying 1k+ for this rifle.
If anyone is interested, my FFL has 3 - Just PM me and I'll get you in touch w/them.

I can attest to the finish not being marred up or rough. It was a clean LOOKING gun. Just not what I'm looking for in other areas.

Don't feel bad- After all of the problems on the net forums and youtube with the rimfire 522, I walked too. Already had a set of Aurora sights and black 551 furniture waiting.

I got lucky, my 556 (not the R, just the 5.56 version) is absolutely flawless.

Its sad, SIG appears to have some real QC issues these days.

However, I am not ready to walk away from the brand just yet, my 556 and my SP2340 are two absolutely unstoppable performers.

It really is ashame... I have several SIG pistols, and haven't had the first issue with any of them.
The worst part for me is, the AK I held off buying is now sold out everywhere.

I fired an entire case of Yugo 7.62x39 through my 556R with one FTE and a FTF on a dry gun

The 556R he got might have been a lemon. The rest are getting good reviews.

Sad really...
I ordered an AK variant this afternoon. I don't expect any issues with it.

i just picked up a new 556R last friday and had it at the range sunday. flawless. went through about 300 rounds with not one problem. factory red dot was only 3 in high and 3 in right from get go. good bore sight i guess. it surely kicks more than the 556 but sure was a blast, people kept asking me where did i buy the curved AR magazines. LOL.

wife shooting it

That looks nice and I like the barrel work too. Where's a good place to order the stock adaptor from?

Accomplice1 that looks good. First 556R I've seen with a 551 handguard.
