So according to the city zoning officials, I am allowed to have a home based FFL as long as there are no customers or no employees presents. This got me thinking of starting a FFL 07 at my friends duracoat business since he has a shop front. He doesn't have a FFL since he doesn't take in anything with a serial number. I thought this would be beneficial for the both of us.

Can I start a FFL 07 at this shop front under my business name? Put the shop address under Premise Address and my home as Mailing Address?

It would be something along the lines of "Come do your transfers at Casper's FFL located at Joe Blows Duracoat Service Shop".

I was thinking of the Type 07 FFL since eventually down the road, I want to get my own company's name made into lowers. Would like to get a Class 3 SOT too eventually.

Since I'm a Type 07 FFL located at the duracoat shop, will my buddy be able to work on complete guns now since the Premise Address is the same as the Duracoat Service Address?

Thanks for your time and help

yes

07s usually opt for a Class 2 SOT so they can manufacture NFA items, not just stock and sell them.

His business is now subject to compliance inspections for your FFL, since you share an address. If you make your buddy a bonafide employee or partner in the business, then he, too will be able to work on guns at your combined premises, under the auspices of your license.

Is there a list of compliance stuff I could reference? Looking at other gun stores in the area, I feel like I keep track of my guns and secure them better lol
