 01 FFL Application Questions

A couple of quick questions. I'm trying to avoid any hold up when I submit my application.

1. After first looking at the application I was under the impression that the CLEO had to fill out section 28, similiar to a form 4. However, after reading it again the applicant just fills out section 28, signing it and writing in the CLEO's name and address, correct?

2. Do I give the CLEO copy to him, then send in the other 3 parts to the ATF or do I send in all four parts to the ATF?

3. Does the application from online have to be printed on the front and back like NFA forms?

4. For hours of operation, I put 6pm-8pm Monday and by appointment for the rest of the days. Will this be ok?

5. For the inspection, is there anything I need other then a house that is zoned correctly?

I'm meeting with a CPA next week to discuss forming an LLC. Is there any kind of standard liability insurance home-based ffl's carry? I'm trying to make sure I'm covered if anything comes up.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've read through all the posts on this forum and I know some of my questions have already been answered. I wanted to double check all the information to make sure there haven't been any changes.

Thanks!

You just have to mail a copy to the CLEO you list on the form. I'd include a note with their copy that it's for their information only and no action needs to be taken on their behalf.

Read the bottom of the copies.... One goes to CLEO, you keep one, and two go the ATF.

They don't have to be printed double sided.

Your hours should be fine. If they aren't, an IOI will have you amend the application when they do their interview.

It's not an inspection. An IOI sits down with you, goes over the required forms, definitions, etc, and that's it. You will need proof that your zoning is ok. If you're house is in an HOA, you will need written approval from them. You'll also need any business licenses your state, county, or city requires, and you'll need a sales tax certificate from the state if they issue one. I'd recommend going ahead and getting an EIN from the IRS, too.

If you plan to go LLC, you need to have it all set up before you send your application in. Most FFLs carry some type of liability insurance. NRA business alliance and NSSF both have recommended companies.
