Third call from ATF tracing center
I have had to trace 3 or four AR 15 pistols for the ATF tracing center since the first of the year, + one because some 01 dealer put a stock on one and got caught at the range with an illegal SBR.
I heard he claimed he was exempt because he was is/was an FFL (01)
JHC I hope he beats it or pleads out so I don't have to get on the stand and say "it left our shop as a pistol".
Damn...
Never good to hear of these types of prosecutions.
Wow! I've had one trace since 1989. But I don't do high volume either.
Had a trace on a guy who bought a couple Draco pistols earlier in the year, and this week a guy who bought a Hi Point 9mm rifle
I had 3 traces last month in a 2 day period. 3 glocks. a 21 / 26 /27.
Odd thing was 2 of those glock frames were still in my inventory. I sold the uppers to 3 different people on gunbroker.

Funny they just called again 3 days ago. Same story. I told the guy this is the thrid time it's happened. The slides were sold on GB and i still have the frames on hand. He said he would make a note of them still in my inventory and he doesn't know why they are grabbing the serials on the slide. Unless they are popping them out of the frames.

I wonder why so many of your slides are being used in crimes ? Its weird. How many slides have you sold ?
Did the three go to the same person?
I have sold dozens and dozens over the past few years between Glock and Beretta. Never got any calls till the first one a few weeks ago.
The three i have gotten calls about were all sold to a dealer on the east coast that "was buying them for a customer". The one that i did not have in stock was a frame from a G21/20 that was sent to a different dealer.

Excuse my ignorance, why would you disassemble a perfectly good pistol in order to just sell the slide?

I sell the frames as well. Say for instance the Glock 21/20 series. Guys who have 10mm want to convert to .45. Guys who have .45 want to convert to 10mm. Guys buy the frames for .22 conversions or what ever else they are doing to them. Same with beretta 92/96.

My guess that because the serial on the slide is more prominent somebody mistakenly believes that to be the serial of the gun in question
