Making Dillon swager automatic
I saw someone did it with solid wire instead of a rubberband and I have been trying to find pics of this setup with no luck. Anyone have a lead on the photos?
Thanks in advance!!
With all of the people modding this thing, you would think Dillon would get on board and offer it up already made that way.
Pretty cool. How is it made? I'd like to see some details or plans for that.

I am not sure if you've noticed but dillon is pretty slow to change anything or add new products. Most of their presses haven't changed a bit since I got into reloading.
Hornady seems to pick up on this stuff and take these innovations and produce them.
Many will say everything dillon is perfect blah blah.

+1
tagscribe. I need to this to mine.
I found the handle to kinda be in my way, so I flipped the action on my swage, and swaging goes much more freely since then.
I had my SS600 set up in the auto mode for a short time. I found that if I'd mount it in a vice nearly vertically with the handle on top and without the auto feature it was faster.

I haven't been into reloading for a full year yet so I don't really know much about the different brand tendencies. I'm not really brand loyal either. I do know that a lot of members in this forum think very highly of Dillon.
That's the main reason Im puzzled by the fact that they have not made the swagger with that option.
Peace
My Dillon press came with a swager. But the 1050 was more expensive than the other presses for sure.
From what I have read, Dillon is slow to change because the company spends a great deal of time testing to make sure changes meet their standard. I am sure someone can find the article talking about why they don't offer a case feeder for .223/5.56 on the 550b; in the article Dillon stated they wanted a product that would last for more than 150,000 rounds not just a few thousand.

Can you explain "flipped the action"?
I have a Dillon Super Swage arriving this week.

It's just that I reset the swage to work on the upstroke instead of the downstroke; a pic would explain it more clearly than I can type it, but I'm not near the swage at the moment.
However, the modification only took a couple minutes and is easily reversible if you don't find it helpful.
Nice set up, will be doing the mods.
