Reloading
Do any of you all reload ? I was considering getting into it for 7.62, .223, and pistol, but am not sure if it is worth it to reload ak rounds? Will it still save money in the long run, considering the prices of steel ammo?
i don't bother reloading 7.62x39. steel is cheap, time is expensive, and my rifles put big nasty dents in the case wall.
i'll reload 223 for a bolt rifle i have. decrimping crimped ammo is a pain in the ass too, and privi brass is a pain in the ass to deprime.
Cast your own bullets and you can make SKS/AK ammo for .10 each.
It's not worth the hassle if you're going to buy bullets. Also brass casings can be challenging to come by.
I started reloading 7.62x39 the first time the gov't banned inexpensive ammunition in this caliber.
I handload every centerfire I shoot,54r,300 Sav. X39,38/357,9mm,9 x 18. I cast all my bullets from free lead, and with the exception of the 9mm and 9 x 18 I can load every rd. with the same powder. I make my 9 x 18 brass from once fired 9mm cases,my cast bullet loads both plinking ammo and full power hunting loads are cheaper than steel or surplus.

How do you obtain this free lead?
Have a couple friends I shoot with that work in car dealerships and truck maintenance dept.I make them some bullets or fishing weight from each bucket they bring me. Plus i live out in the sticks so there is a lot more sources of old lead around.

I live in the lead belt and cannot even get free lead, but I am able to buy it at market price.
I know a guy that has a tire shop, but he tries to reuse all of the wheel weights he can and his son scarfs up the ones he can't.

Ever thought of getting brass that doesn't have primer crimps. Sell the crimped stuff and buy commercial uncrimped.
