HK MP5 .22
I did a search for HK MP5 .ss but nothing came up. Forgive me if this is not the right forum. I saw the HK MP5 .22 in my local shop and it seems well built. I was not aware these were being made. What feed back are these getting? Any good? Better then the GSG-5? Thanks!
I have fingered a couple and like them a lot. I have a ton of money and a class III tag tied up in my GSG. I am satisfied with ATIs version.
Own a pre-lawsuit GSG5 but handled the new Umarex "HK". Umarex has, IMHO, better cosmetics between the two. Of course a higher price as they had to pay HK for use of the trades.
The jury is still out if there will be the same cust svc, mass fan following, and 9-million accessories as we have for the GSGs for the Umarex MP5s.
FWIW, they are both fundmentally over-engineered, screwed-together "shell guns" - barrelled firing mechanisms inside a cosmetic skin; just like the ISSC "SCAR", GSG AK-47, and the various other Umarex "EBRs". Same thing we will see with the upcomig GSG MP44/22.
Not that this is a bad thing, it is a clever way to offer a variety of .22 "EBRs" by simply engineering a fresh shell - like a FAMAS, P90, FAL, MP44/22, etc.
i have shot 200 rds without a hiccup on mine last week, right out of the box. solid build and weight. accessories are pricy and hard to find right now. two 25rd mags cost me 70 and i've already spent another 200 for rail and green dot reflex sight. half of what i purchased the mp5/22 for.

Handled one in the shop. Sliding stock was gritty, and did not like it as much as my semi gussied up gsg5sd.
I have both. The MP5A5 .22lr has the edge when it comes to looking more like the real thing (more realistic "Navy" lower, etc.) and the fit and finish of the MP5A5 .22lr is a bit better than the GSG-5's (the collapsable stock has less wobble, the magazine has less "play", the weight makes it feel more solid, etc.) Both the MP5A5 .22lr and the GSG-5 shoot about the same and I've never had any problems with either rifle.
One thing the GSG-5 has going for it, though, is that it is really easy to convert it to a SBR! I got my tax stamp last month and it was a breeze doing the conversion –– it took less than 15 minutes to replace the 16" barrel with a 9" pistol barrel. Here's a pic of the GSG-5 SBR and my MP5 SBR.
Accessories have just started to become available for the MP5A5 .22lr. I just picked up 3 extra 25-round magazines and an A2 fixed stock from Umarex (at full price). And no, they are not interchangeable with the GSG-5 accessories. I guess that's another point to the GSG-5 –– a huge selection of aftermarket accessories at a good price.
Got my SD Hk 2 weeks ago and took it out for a quick 100rd test, (i still got PUDDING FACE ) the only shooters that will complain about them is the GSG owners that are stuck with there GSGs. i am glad i dumped my 2 GSGs in Jan and will NEVER look back. it does not feel like that cheap gsg, BUT they do cost more right now there are app $447 DEALER cost. and the mags are APP $24 Dealer. Spend the $ and get the HK marked one NOT the CHEAP GSG. Mr PUDDING FACE new owner of a HK MP5 SD Umarex not the GSG JUNK!
The polymer reciever on the HK is much more durable then the zinc shit on the GSG.
