Preparing to buy a GSG-5 and I need advice on what to look for.

I never considered buying a GSG until I handled one my local dealer, it felt pretty good for the price and seemed like it would be a blast to shoot. He has a lightly used Gen 2 pre-lawsuit GSG-5P model for $380 OTD. Is this a decent price?

What items do you suggest I purchase along with the GSG? My plans were to get several extra mags and the screw replacement kit.

Do they make a good thread adapter for them? If not I will just get the carbine model.

Anything else I should know about the Gen 2 GSG-5P, Known problems or anything?

i think that's a good price. i paid about $380 for my GSG522PK and then another $20 for the kit to make it look like the pre-lawsuit GSG-5's.

i'd do the screw replacement mod just so that i don't have to think about it. along w/ it, i'd purchase the buffer and push pins. you can also get a thread adapter from Swarfworks. extra mags are always a great idea, so stock up!

Thanks for the info. I would also like to have a rail on this one for optics, what is my best option for that?

Low profile railed clamp mount is probably the best option for optics mounting. The clamp ones that allow use of iron sights put the optic really high off the bore and you have to raise your cheek off the stock to see through it.

I bought the gun yesterday and it is a lot of fun to shoot.

I definitely need the screw upgrade, after a box of Federal bulk I heard a clanking sound and one of the screws had fallen out and was trapped in the stock plate.
