Hey guys - I just finished up my evaluation of the ZT 0561:
REVIEW OF THE ZERO TOLERANCE 0561
Overall I like the knife, but I did get an example with an unacceptably strong detent. So I'll be sending it along with my 0550 back to ZT for them to address the issue.
nice review. On both the 0550 and 0561.
I, too, have both knives but I haven't found a single issue in the detents for mine. They're both strong, but I have no problem deploying either knife with thumb studs or the flipper on the 0561. I'll be eager to hear about their customer support when you get them back.
I think these are two of some of the best build knives out there.
If you're enjoying Zero Tolerance - give their 0350 a try. It'll blow your mind for a sub-$150 knife!
I love my 0560. I was a little annoyed at first because it was difficult to open, but it really smoothed out nicely after breaking it in. It's not for everyone but that detent helps make sure the flipper gets the large blade out.
ETA: Mine is impossible to open with the stud with my right hand, but that's not why I bought the knife so I'm no too worried.
I had a chance to handle one of the models - I can't remember which one - OD green with the tiger stripe. It was impressive. I liked the locking mechanism since it requires you to pull outward to engage the locking mechanism and fold the blade. You could tell it was well-built. It had better be for the price tag. I think there are a couple of Benchmade models I would buy before a ZT, but it is a damn fine knife!
