I just picked one up last week, it is a beast of a knife. Very sturdy, solid and like all ESEE knives it feels like it can chop through a tank. I have all of the ESEE knives now and it is my favorite of the bunch just for sheer brute strength.

It should. I really would prefer a real Machete and a decent folder as that is what goes to work with me everyday.
I think that I may have to give one a try but every time I get a heavy chopper I always go back to a lite weight 12in Machete. I took a thin blade Ontario "economy" and turned it into a Martindale #2 clone with a para cord handle which is my go to.
It is only sharpened the last 9in so I can choke up in front of the handle to use more like a knife plus I only have about $16 bucks into it.

I have one, but my Cold Steel Kukri Machete does a pretty good job for $20 -

A major reason why I may sell my Junglas.

It's so thick you can barely call it a machete, but it has the mass to whack through just about anything you wouldn't reach for an axe to chop through.

I like the extra reach of a full length machete. The length let's you hit harder, ad you're lss likely to bust your knuckles, or shred your hand if there is briars/brambles/ stickers/ poison ivy/ stinging nettle, you get the idea. I'm not fancy I use a simple military surplus machete.

I still would like one but imo these large blades seem to big to use on most things and small and heavy for a machete.

I think 7" is about maximum for a useful size, anything longer is just awkward.

He has some valid points..but ultimately it's up to you to figure out what works best for you in your area.

Good points I think most of my bias is based off I use my machete in urban areas often. It doesn't suck as bad to hit a rock or concrete with a $20 machete vs a $1?? Knife
