only 5 months to go
I've been waiting on Spyderco to release this model ever since I saw a prototype last year. Now they're saying June. This will be my new EDC.
The steel is CTS-XHP, basically it's like a stainless version of D2. The steel is also made in America (Carpenter) which is a nice surprise. The spear point blade and titanium frame is exactly what I've been looking for, for a long time now. The blade is 2 1/2" which is just fine for every day. The street price should be about $200. Not bad since I considered having a custom made in order to get what I want so $200 is relatively cheap.
Also, here's Bob Dozier's take on that steel:
The xhp is everything you would want in a stainless knife steel. Great finish, the best edge holding of any stainless I have used.
I like it but what's up with that pocket clip?
It also looks like another knife that's not left hand friendly.

The prototype I saw had a clip like a Sebenza, which I liked a lot more. But with a knife that size I don't care because the first thing I'll do is take off the clip.
I've seen elsewhere that the lefties are not very happy with the design, can't say I blame you. Maybe if it sells well they'll make a left handed version.
I put money down last october for the new Zero Tolerance 561 that started out to be a Christmas gift to myself. Now it's Feb and ZT still has no date in mind for release. I feel your pain partner. I've always had a hard time getting into Spyderco knives. That said, I carry a Delica to work every day. The one you put pics up though....I could see that pretty easy in my pocket.

They have a lot of pretty weird designs, some of them just for the sake of being weird in my opinion. They do a great job of making blades for cutting, not prying and beating your way out of your mangled gun door when the space shuttle crashes.
I need to get a Delica some day. I'm a Spyderco fan but I've never owned a Delica or Endura. I guess that makes me a pretty shitty Spyderco fan.

looks good, and I don't care for most of spyderco's designs.
Hmm, looks like that may be a good little knife for times when i don't want to carry my honkin' Strider SMF. Definitely going to have to look at one once they come out.
I wish they do an anodized titanium/G10 scaled version sometime as I don't particularly care for metal handles.
If the steel is made in USA. Why does it have Taiwan on the blade.
