Help me choose a knife.
I don't know much at all about blades and what is on the market but I have an idea as to what I would like. I am looking for an all around fixed blade knife that won't break the budget. I would like the blade to be somewhere between 7" to 10" Most importantly it can't cost an arm and a leg. Preferably under $100.00 dollars. Ideas that come to mind are the Ka-Bar USMC knife or a western bowie pattern knife. What are my options for something like this in this price range? Would a M9 bayonet be a possible candidate maybe? Any help is appreciated.
ETA - I found this one here by
KaBar that seems to fit my needs. Anyone know anything about it?
Look at the Esee 6. It is right around 100 and it is a good blade and good steel.
The Esee 6 is a good choice like said above, don't have one but it's 2nd on my list of fixed blades to get.
Have a look at the OKC Ranger Assault Knife as well. I do have one of those and I love it. Fits in your needs pretty well.
RAT Cutlery
Junglas? (10" / $120)

Second the vote for the 6. It would be money well spent!
Maybe either the ESEE - 6 or the Junglas.
Here is my ESEE - 5
Nothing fancy. Nothing expensive. It is not my everyday carry. Just a good all purpose adventure knife.
Here are some of my EDC assets. I have a lot more, but these are what I usually grab.
Ka-Bar shown for size.
Hard to beat for $120.
My RAT 7 is my go-to field knife.

1 + 1 = 3.14 ?????????????
Doesn't quite add up.
"Blade between 7-10 inches..."
You would need a couple of those Benchmades....
Jericoh Blade Works
You might find something there you like....

Scrapyard has better steel than the knives you are looking at but you have to order a separate sheath, not a big deal.
Esee would be my next choice in that price range
Get an ESEE. you will not be dissappointed. Then again once you get one,you will just HAVE to have another, its addictive

I keep forgetting about Scrapyard, Nice knives for the price....
It sounds like you want to take a look at the
Condor Hudson Bay
It is patterned after the blade carried by the pioneers, a couple centuries ago who did use their knives to survive. The Hudson Bay looks a bit like a 9 inch butcher knife with a very thick blade, great all around.
- 1075 carbon steel
- 8.75 inch blade
- 3/16" thick
- thick leather sheath
- Around $30. You can abuse it and not feel bad about it.
It has flair. Unlike a bayonet it won't raise eyebrows around the campsite.
No-nonsense review here:

You asked for a good all around knife and that's the best that comes to mind. But you also mentioned Kabar's fighting knife and the M9 bayonet. If what you're really looking for is a tactical military blade, you won't like the Hudson.
At all.
Scrapyard would be my pick. Right now they have the 7-11 and 5-11 in the shop. I just got in the 7-11 and have been able to use it a bit. Its a nice blade. I made the sheath.
