Anyone have a good load for the 750 Grain A-Max bullet, H50BMG powder. Shooting it out of an AR-50. The only data I have right now is a 233 grain max.

Thank you.

233 is HOT
the amaxs actually do better when there not over driven
my pet load when i was shottong the amaxs was 218 of h50 seated at 5.75"
my rifle likes it the longer you seat them (36" bohics with a standard chamber)
i started at 214 and laddered my way up to 224 in 2 grain intervals before settling on 218
218 will shot sub moa @ 1,000 yads

Denny Gibson is one of our top FCSA shooters and he wrote an article a year or so back about his success. His load was no secret...214 grains of H50BMG with a 750 gr Amax and CCI #35 primers. You can search for the article in the VHP index on the FCSA site.

I'd suggest you stick with 214 to 224 grains for the best results. Only testing in your gun will tell you what works best but if you must just load and go, 215 grains is safe in an AR-50 and it's also known to be very accruate in a wide range of guns.

How is the chamber on the AR50? Do they normaly have a long throat or is it pretty good? Is there a difference between the old ones and the A1's

Long throat on every one I've ever seen or played with. Never have played with an A1 but I expect they're the same.

Doesn't seem to adversely affect accuracy though.

Just don't plan to seat to the lands with an Amax.

About as rediculous as the 233 grain max. That's hyper conservative to have a starting load below 200 grains.

Note the 36" barrel to get 2700 with 215 grains of H50BMG. Must have been a super fast test barrel.

With 224 grains of H50BMG and a 31" barrel, I'm struggling to get 2560 fps.

Any suggestions for 750 AMAX and surplus 5010?

I shoot 210 grs surplus. Surplus varies in burn rate. Start slow and work up. 210 is a mild load.

215 grs of 5010 and AMAX have always worked well in my AR-50.

Another load for the AR-50 is 220 grs. of VV 24N41, CCI 35 and AMAX seated out to 5.75".

Why am I reading to seat the bullet at 5.735-5.750, when the book states 5.455? Is this done to increase accuracy?

Thanks

Yes it is for accuracy, the 5.455 is MAX length to fit in a Magazine.

My Match load is a 765Grain Bore rider seated to an OAL of 6.004", shooting a State Arms rifle.
