Purchased a rifle from Odessa Manufacturing (old Legamec UL50 company). Marcos & a new partner built up a rifle (similar to Safety Harbor SHF rifle) that's a single shot 50. Uses the UM AR15 firing system. The rifle looks great & the main reason I bought this rifle is "IT"S NOT BOHICA"!!
No need to add to thread if you a Bohica looser! You've tied up 3 or 4 seperate threads already!

A picture would be nice, and maybe a website for the new company.

Thanks,

Hey that thing looks like... ... a serbu.
MrBen  [Member]

No, it looks more like the SHF single-shot repeater...
If it's modeled on the UL-50, then the barrel and AL shroud are locked together as well.
The reciver/bbl extension is milled as one piece and the scope riser/rail is AL.

This is the Serbu... a little heavier with the steel scope base w/replaceable rails, steel shroud, free floating bbl, a bigger bolt assembly and welded barrel extension/rcv. m60 style bipod lug, and buttplate gusset. A little cheaper at 2195.00 too. www.serbu.com

Indeed you are right, it does look more like an SHF.

So similar... a retard like me might guess they were the same gun.

Personally, I'd have to have someone weigh the bipods before I'd pick one over the other

I think I'm going to start an association to lobby all manufacturers list their bipod weights on their website. It is borderline intentional cruelty to keep us in the lurch like this.

Anybody ever shot one of these patriots?

yep -I've been a looser on various things - but basically Marcos took the SHF rifle concept & made a single shot version. I'm guessing that Dennis Cheney (UM50) & Marcos along with the other investor wanted to get a single shot rifle on the market prior to any other state bans go into effect. I beleive that Odessa Manufacturing will have the 510DTC (Cali-version) available soon.

Though similar its not a single shot version of our rifle the SHF/R50. I have thought about doing a single shot but this is not it.

Safety Harbor Firearms Inc.

PS - our bipod weighs 1 lbs 6 ozs :-)

Personally, I don't dig those round looking ones very much. Looks like the whole thing was busted out on a lathe. I'm sure very cheap to make. Everything else be damned, the looks just don't do it for me.

OP... where did you buy yours?

I think the UL50, UM50 and the Anzio Ironworks guns were all from the same design guy who then sold off the designs to et al.

UL/patriot single shot
UM side mag feed
Anzio Traditional mag fed

Patriot arms rifle from Odessa manufacturing. 29" barrel version. Leupold 4.5X14X50 (barrett scope) mounted for proper eye relief. Nice to have short length scope. Rifle barrel, action are Marcos (UL) products, the new machined parts, action, removal butt stock, etc. are the Odessa partners features. Also the Ar firing system is fits well into system. Over all length is 52". The butt pad is removable so you can get the rifle into a 52" case (without butt pad - 50") Very nice rifle - priced right - Bohica is less expensive but is an upper / lower where as this rifle is similar to Serbu - SHF - Anzio. All well built rifles by the Florida gunsmiths. I've owned all their models (other than Anzio 20MM cannon - too much!!!)

OK, I'm at a loss here. I just ordered a 29" upper from Marcos, and spoke with him.
There was no mention of closing his doors.

Marcos is busy making rifles & uppers. He formed a new compmany with another investor. Nothing has changed, but the rifle I purchased is new to their company.

I'm hoping he's replying to the post about the barrel being free float or not

MrBen  [Member]

Marcos is referring to whether the barrel was free floating or not....

Apparently it is not... like the UL-50 I've got, there's probably a threaded bushing that ties the front of the handguard tube to a point on the barrel that's also threaded so the barrel is actually held in tension for the length of the handguard. The back end appears to be slip fit over the barrel extension and is locked in place by a pin on the bottom. (these are pics of my 18" LigaMec UltraLite50 conversion)
