SHot my SCAR 17S FDE for the first time - range report

I've had a chance to zero in my newly acquired 17S.

Conditions - rainy, humidity 100%, 44 degrees Fahrenheit
McMiller shooting range Eagle, WI

Oldest brother shooting the 17S first time:

He is freaking out how light the .308Win recoil is! heh heh

100 yards, plain target, run of the mill Winchester white box 147 grain FMJ

My worst....Grrrrrrrr...I'll get better I swear.

My best:

this is with regular run of the mill ammo.

It was raining a lot and not the most ideal time to zero in a scope. I'm pretty glad how well I shot this new to me rifle.
:D

I did not have any time to get better ammo. Next time!

Wow its an eye opener how light weight and recoil-wise this .308Win firearm has. I am able to compare this side by side with M1A, HK91 and 700P.

Ecstatic with this firearm!

Nice, thanks for the range report. I have given some thought to flipping my SR for one.

Nice shooting, that special FDE paint is the secret to your groupings....too bad the black ones don't shoot as well !

Real nice groups in that rain. That rifle is real nice to shoot.

NO, NO, NO get both. Thats what I got. You can mod the lower of the SCAR 17 to use the same mags as the SR-25. Then you only need pack one type mag.

What a great idea! That's what they should do with those inaccurate black rifles...sell 'em for parts since they "ain't any good to shoot with" ..stupd 1 MOA groups with iron sights...what were they thinking when they made these black 17s?

Parts kits for 4-$500 and as a bonus they send the silly old receiver with it. Think they could sell a few?

Isn't the recoil crazy light for a .308? I was so amazed the first time I shot it.

Great looking rifle!

Illuminated Mark 4 3.5x10x40mm with M3 or M2 knobs.

Love the M3 or M2 knobs. 1/2 MOA or 1 MOA knobs eliminate a lot of clicks!

SCAR is a nice rifle, but I remain unimpressed with the so-called "QD" torx bolt-retained bbl system. Steyr & Beretta got it right with their truly QD AUG & ARX-160 bbls. While I know most don't swap bbl's much, if it has the feature I would like to able to use it w/o concern about problems, & there have been reports of the steel bolts stripping the threads on the aluminum HG retaining tabs, among other things. I know it works, but a true, tool-less & robust method would've been better in the long run, IMO.

I like pretty much everything else about it, though.

While I haven't read those specific reports, I would hazard a guess that they didn't torque the screws to factory specs and may have overtightened the scews resulting in the stripped threads.
