 SCAR 17 & 4x Acog

Curious if anyone here has run this combo and weather .308 recoil combined with short eye relief of the 4x Acogs can be problematic?

I haven't shot the SCAR 17, so I'm unsure what the recoil is like, but I do know I usually run my eye almost right up against the Acogs...Didn't know if trying that combo would risk my eye comfort!

This is my buddies SCAR 17s.

It was perfect eye relief wise for me, and to be honest the scar 17s has less recoil than my 10.5" 5.56 LMT

I shot a ban era AR10 carbine with the muzzle break and a TA01 and it hit me repeatedly in the face.

Is that a TA11 or TA31?

It's the larger version so the TA31 TA11

The only reason I got rid of my 4x Acog is because it hit me in the eye repeatedly on a AR15, I would not even consider putting one on a .308

I would look at a TA33 or TA11 if I was you

The larger version is the TA11, and it's a 3.5x, not 4x. That's what is shown in the photo.
The 4x version has much shorter eye relief and is what is typically used on the AR15/ M16.

The eye relief of the TA11 is considerably greater than that of the TA31.

Right, my mistake

Yeah, the TA11 has better eye relief...and what I was thinking would probably be a good alternative. I would prefer the slight increase in magnification with the 4x model, but not at the expense of getting knocked in the eye over and over.

Thanks for the responses!

I shot a friend's 17s with a TA31. I was hit in the eye multiple times. I bought a TA11 for my 17.

My TA33R8 has awesome eye relief. I can put my eye right up against it, or keep about 3"-4" in-between, doesn't really matter. I use it on my SCAR 16S.

I have the TA11 on my Scar 17. I have zero problems with this set up.

This. Just wish I had more time to shoot it.

I run a TA33 on my 17s or a Nightforce 2.5 x 10 x 24 NXS. I have not experienced a problem with recoil with either optic.
