With what platform? The FS2000?

If you're talking fs2000s, most of the early (pre 10k) ones had tough firing pin springs in them that caused light strikes.
They semi fixed this in the 25,000 range, with only certain mil surp ammo light striking. But light strikes came back again in the 30,000(optic models) and some 50,000 serial range.

It's all because FNH overcorrected while trying to get away from slamfiring, so much so that mil surp ammo couldn't be fired reliably in some guns without a snip of a coil or removing the entire firing pin spring.

For what it's worth, my 25,000 S/N and my 26,000 S/N range fs2000s never had light strikes, not once.

Thanks Crusader-

What brands do you recommend in the 5.56 and .223 cartridges to avoid no matter the serial number (I'd like to keep on normal setting for both if possible)?

Well i haven't tested dozens of ammo brands but I've had 100% luck with:

Federal
Lake city
American Eagle
Winchester
Remington
Fiocci
Prvi
black hills
Hornady

I even tried gold bear or wolf gold or something.. A friend gave me a box and it ran fine, dirty as all hell though

Impressive list. There are at least two on yuor list that show as consistent repeat offenders for others.

Do you know of anyone having a slamfire from removing the captive spring?

Not to my knowledge, no. I didn't want to risk it so I left mine on, but with the lighter firing pin it shouldn't happen.
