This ones for Tony_K......
Because after viewing his colt, and all of the very informed posts that I have listened to over the years, I finally took the plunge and got myself a pony. Thanks Tony_K.
I'm working on better photos. Been crazy busy, and I just had enough time to run down to the dealers to get the paperwork, let alone get a real photo shoot with it.

Hot damn!
That did it. I have to get one too. Where can I find one and how much would an M16A1 cost?
Everyone has been getting new M16s lately its making me jealous.

A factory Colt will run ya $14k and up right now.
You also can find registered-receiver conversions starting around $10k or so. I just scored one for $9.8k, to share the workload with my longtime fave factory Colt M16A1.

Colt's would run you like $13-$15k. Subguns, strum, gunbroker, they are listed on all of the above.

The only household budget I've got is for mittens. And mittens doesn't need much. More for MG's.

Thanks! I don't know how much shooting I'm going to be doing with it. I've got a shooter, this one is in like 98% condition. Found out it was registered as an M16A2 by colt, but ended up being made into an M16A1.
But I wanted a MK18, and figured to truly have one, I'd need a .gov property marked M16A1, so ended up shopping around for it for quite a while. Finally found one that worked out.

If you ever come across a mint Colt M16A2 with Auto marking let me know. I need 1 for my collection. I don't moniter the boards as much as used too. I want to be a cool cat with a Colt!!

I will, but I'd also like an A2. Just because its the last in the line of colts that you can own as a civvie. If I could get a M4 I'd be all over that. But an A2 will have to do. But a GI would be nice as well......

Just toys thats all they will ever be. I would love a A2 with the auto marking. People just want toooooo much money for them. Hell if I ever got one I dont think I would ever shoot it. I dont shoot 90% of the stuff I own.
Do you plan on shooting your A1?

Yeah, I understand that. I don't think I'll do much shooting with this one. I didn't plan on buying one this nice, hell, I was going to hit the buy it now on the H&R reweld .gov property marked gun on gunbroker. Just because I wouldn't care about shooting it. But this one is pretty much cherry, I can't see going hog wild on it. I've got other options in the M16 platform I can beat on.
Are the A2's marked "Burst" instead of "Auto"?

Yes, almost all of them are marked "Burst"
Really liking that roll mark.

Is that just me or is the roll pin to the bolt catch hanging out a little??

It might be. I'm going to try and make it back down there tonight and get some better photos of it. It hasn't been touched since leaving colt, so I'm not going to worry about it at this point.

trey, I'll just pound it back in with a handy-dandy philips screw driver tip, okay?
Photos still didn't turn out that great. Oh well. I'll have to get something better at some point.

Still looks good to me

That is a thing of beauty! Congrats!
Id do a foia. the letters look off a little. Make sure it's not a reweld. looks like lowers that both Stemple and Norrell made years ago. Of course it could just be the photos; Anyway it's always nice to pickup another toy.
Very cool!

They aren't.
The FOIA has been done. It was a DOE gun. Not a reweld.

Thanks. Took me a while to figure out what colt I wanted. But I think it was a good choice.
