I looking to buy another upper for my M16, I currently have 2-11.5" uppers and I've been using the 16" upper off my LE6940.
I've never shot a 14.5" upper how does that compair to a 16" upper?
Thanks JR

14.5" is my favorite upper –– I've got four of 'em (an M4A2, an M4A3 and two A3 SOCOMs). It's way more reliable than shorties, due to the longer gas pulse before the barrel leaves the muzzle. And I really like the balance. IMHO, it handles better than the 16".

I like short 7.5'' and 12.5'' uppers personally.

I'm running a 12.7" right now. Not sure how I like it. My 9mm's are shorter.

My favorite upper is a 'nam-style skinny 1x12 20".

That said, I have and also enjoy shooting a 14.5" M4 with the fat handguards, a 10.5" HBAR I usually run with a suppressor, and my 7.5" DPMS "KittyKat".

What, no 20" upper?

Have 11.5s, 14.5s, and 20s. If hits with irons matter I'll take a 20". My 11.5s are for blasting fun. Since they make more blast and flash than 14.5s - and have the same sight radius - I tend not to use the 14.5s much. My Colt 11.5s are reliable - only one needs a D-ring.

Then, I'm so retro I think a carry handle mounted AP is the bomb.

10.5 inch LMT Mk18 upper is what mine wears most frequently. I do also frequently run a 16 inch midlength Noveske N4 upper.

10.5" is what I'm running now with a Noveske barrel and 10" DD Lite. I have a 14.5" M4 setup I really like. I would really like to mess with the 7.5" but I'm in no hurry.

I have run a 7.5", 10.5", 11.5" 16" and 20" but I prefer a 16" midlength upper. A have never had a malfunction with it on almost 3K rounds and the cyclic rate is about perfect for me. The 7.5" was fun but I got tired of replacing gas tubes so I got rid of everything but 16" and 11.5" uppers.

With the A5 stock my 14.5 SOCOM upper is by far my favorite upper to shoot. Next would be my cheap 20" blasting upper for doing BETA mag dumps

I love my 7.5 Adams Arms upper, just loud as hell and tons of fun. I think I'm over 10,000 rds through it now and the only time I have ever had problems is with some wolf and UMC .223. Everything else runs 100%! next favorite is my LWRC A3 18" upper suppressed, lots of fun for a lot of shooting out past a few hundred yards. I run the 7.5" the most though, bought some replacement barrels from Sabre before they went under, so cheap to replace when I need to, and that's the one I like letting friends shoot for the to get that first time "mag-dump shit-eating grin" out of them!!

11.5 is quickly becoming my favorite, and I have shot 5,7.5,10,11.5,14.5,16,20 inchers. I just like the way it handles.

I've been shooting 10.5" mk18 uppers for the last couple of year and I've really enjoyed them. However, I recently purchased a Shrike with a 20" barrel which I'm not to fond of. I've been trying to decide which barrel length I want to switch to. I'm thinking about going with two 14.5" barrels and selling the 20". I don't want to burn up a suppressor to fast on a 12.5" upper, but I also don't want the barrel to be 27" when the suppressor is attached. 14.5" barrels seem like a good compromise between length and performance.

Went with the 14.5" upper, purchased a new LE6940 upper, then sent it off to ADCO for them to cut it down..

Either 11½ inches or 20 inches, depending upon which ones turn it is or what I'm up to that day.
