Will a .410 upper work on full auto?
I have been thinking about getting one of those American Tactical .410 uppers for my M4 Commando. Anyone know if these will work with the happy switch on?
provided you can get or make a full auto bolt carrier, no reason why not.
This was discussed on another forum. The .410 uppers discussed were made in Turkey and lacked an autosear cutout. Sam
I think it was about 1-2 years ago I read about it on AR15.com, might have been in the Gulf Shores HTF. Someone there had one of the .410 AR15 style guns.
The conclusion was the a normal AR15/M16 Mag Well is too small for the .410 mags.
So only way to get it to work on Full auto is with a LL or DIAS, or DIAS with a MGI mag well made for that upper which is not currently produced.

That isn't the case. The whole point behind the ATI imported uppers is that they work on any normal AR lower. They sell just the uppers, so you can buy it, and throw it on the lower you already own. I haven't ever played with one myself, but I would guess as long as you can get a full auto carrier to work with the .410 bolt, you should be in business.

aww, well as I was saying he had a complete gun, I didn't realize they were just making uppers now. But the other verisons that were sold as a complete gun, I believe the mag well was slightly larger
So the BCG they come with are not full auto I assume....Too bad.

Lack of the auto sear cutout won't affect a DIAS, or an LL (which requires a different cut to a semi carrier than the FA carrier). But for use with an RR, cutting the relief in an upper is a few minutes' work on a mill.

The magwell might have been a little larger, but the reason for that was so that it could not be converted to use a 5.56/.223 upper. As it would be able to use high cap mags in that case. But I went and dug up the info from the upper, it works on any normal AR.
The T-14 upper receiver assembly from American Tactical Imports (ATI) introduces the versatility of the shotgun to the AR-15 platform. The 410 Bore upper receiver fires the complete range of 2-1/2" 410 Bore shotshells from birdshot, to buckshot, to slugs; offering multiple possible uses from a single platform. The upper assembly comes complete with a 20" smooth bore barrel, polymer A2 front sight assembly, enlarged A2-style flash hider and 5-round polymer magazine. Drops onto any Mil-Spec AR-15 lower receiver without modifications, and is ready to go right out of the box. Manufactured by Safir Arms of Turkey.

Its not hard to switch out the carrier. It takes all of 5 mins to do.
Where do you get (or make) the full auto BCG?

Its just the main body of the bolt carrier group. The bolt is the front part that touches the round, the carrier is just that, the carrier.
