What type of 9mm setup are you guys running?

I don't have my RR yet, but I will sometime this year(hopefully), and I'm wanting to run 9mm through it too. I just want to know what setup is working for you guys, since I have no experience with 9mm on full-auto other than an MP5. What magblock, uppers, mags, etc? Thanks in advance.

I run an oly upper I shortened to 10.5" with a custom paddle mag block to use unmodified sten mags. It lives on a postie RR, but runs fine with RDIAS and (with a carrier change) an RLL with no other adjustments.

I'll sometimes swap it to a lower with a 4pos FCG for grins, but usually it's just an FA setup. As 9mms go, I prefer my MP5, Uzi or M10.

My thoughts exactly, but until I get an MP5, (which I plan on sometime next year) I will have to settle with a 9mm upper on an M16 for my full auto SMG fix.

I've shot a couple of different 9mm SMGs and I still prefer my AR-15/9 to any other. There are a couple of tricks to smooth out the M16/9 as it tends to feel like a jackhammer.

I don't have an RR, I'm using a RLL on a dedicated host so the mag block is a permanent Hahn. You'll probably want something different and I can't help ya there. I think a lot of guys are using the top loading Hahn but I could be wrong.

The upper Is a RRA A4 with a Tros 5" 3-lug barrel.
YHM hand guard. I think it's their specter length which is 7 inches or so.
It runs 99.9999% of the time with a SWR Trident-9 can.
I use CP mags and I'm shooting my own 147gr reloads.

The trick to smoothing it out:
The bolt is ramped and the bolt weight has been removed. I'm also using an Enidine hydraulic buffer.

It's the smoothest shooting 9mm SMG that I've shot. I'll edit with some pics.

Like Circuits, I prefer my Uzi when it comes to 9mm SMG duties.

I do still have two 9mm setups for my M16, though I haven't shot them in many years. The uppers are an LRM M169 integrally suppressed upper (both 9mm and .22RF), plus a DOE 9mm upper I put together.

Mag blocks are a Crossfire bottom-loading block –– used with Colt factory mags (20 - and 32-round) plus a 100-round Betamag and two converted 72-round Suomi drums –– and a VM Hytech, used with 25- and 32-rnd Uzi mags.

Sheesh! I just realized how much $$$ I have tied up in uppers I never shoot!

For the pic collectors, the DOE upper at rest ....

...and an M169 upper in action:

I run a UZI for my 9mm F/A fix, for my .45, I either run the Thompson or the M10. I haven't contemplated running a 9mm on F/A simply due to the stresses put on the lower, even with a ramped bolt. Also, I'm lazy and 9mm tends to leave the lower filthy after a few mag dumps making clean-up more time consuming than I'd like. That said, I do have some 9mm AR SBRs that I shoot, if I get the itch. But in all honesty, those haven't seen the light of day in at least 2 years , the M16 on the other hand goes to the range every month, along with the UZI, M10 and Thompson.

I am running an ASA 10.5” 9mm SMG upper, ramped bolt, AAC rate reducer, VM HyTech bottom block (for use with un-modified UZI mags)…

good, but the Mini UZI with Barrel Xchange heavy bolt is my favorite 9mm hose.

And tony_k, I know how bad it is to have all the $$$$ tied up in un-used uppers… I’d be very happy to take that darn ole DOE upper off your books!

You’re killing me every time you post a picture of it, I missed getting one by 20 minutes. Arrrrrrrgh.

I plan on running it suppressed, so do you guys think the 9mm will be too rough on the RR?

No, just make sure you have a ramped bolt, and KNS pins.

Here's my current 9mm setup, Tros 5" three-lug barrel, SWR Trident 9 suppressor, YHM pistol rail, standard 9mm flattop upper, brass catcher, Eotech, surefire light, Hahn deticated mag block, original pre-ban Colt magazines with metal followers (hard to find, but work the best), standard 9mm buffer
