M11/9 or M11A1 for AMP-11 Host?

I'm researching a purchase for next year and am really digging the availability of uppers for the M11 series of guns, especially the ones that move away from the zytel mags. I'm looking hard at the Alliance Armament AMP-11 upper, which can be had for both the M11/9 and the M11A1.
Since I can get to the same place with either gun (no ROF differences that I can tell), is there any disadvantage to using the smaller M11A1 as a host? The difference in price would pay for the upper. Are the M11A1s built different or likely to wear faster under this type of use?

DIfference in price of M11A1 ammo vs 9mm would make me go with the M11/9 lower.
M11A1 will be a slightly shorter length, which some people find important with the Suomi style uppers, in being able to reach around the drums.
I'm happy with my AMP11.

I was a beta tester for the AMP11 upper. Pictured is the Gen 1 upper. They took pretty much all my (and the other beta testers) recommendations and incorporated them into the Gen 2 uppers.

is there a way to get the front hand guard to be shorter from top to bottom? like not hang so low under the barrel? i'm just not a fan of how it looks but i may get one for the easy use of mags and drums.

Not that I know of. Its got a bracket underneath the handguard for its multi-caliber option. The Gen 2 handguard looks a little different, but I don't know it its shorter top to bottom.
I should have the Gen 2 in about a week, and I'll do another vid, with pics.
