Semi barrel in a f.a. Uzi?

Pondering both the safety and reliability of using a full length semi barrel in a full auto Uzi. The lack of the semi restrictor ring is my concern. Thoughts?

I wish I could be of better help to you but when I had my full auto uzi I was always told to run the full auto barrel...at that time they were pretty cheap...especially compared to the rest of the gun!

Not gonna be an issue, generally. The fit at the trunion will be a teensy bit loose, but the barrel nut will center it and hold it tight.

No restrictor ring isn't an issue, since the mgs don't have one anyway. Shim the barrel at the trunion if you want a tighter fit there.

Why would you want to run a semi barrel if you don't have the restrictor ring? I can understand using a shortened semi barrel in an UZI that wasn't brought up to SMG specs though.

Never said "shortened" semi barrel.

I had a registered bolt UZI for a while.
It had a cut down semi barrel that ran great.

One time I tried a normal 16" semi barrel and it ran fine.
It felt weird, cycled a little faster and sounded wrong but it ran fine.

It really should not be an issue if the receiver has the rear ring.

EDIT:
yeah, i'd skip it if there isn't a ring. that's just me though.

Bore at trunnion is approx some 40 thousandths larger than the semi-auto trunnion bore.

Placing a "semi-auto barrel in the larger SMG trunnion bore make for loose fitting barrel, and possible off center some direction to cause feed/cycle problems... you "can" try it and see how it work for you.

In the past, when testing for issues with host guns for my registered bolt, I've installed the RB and a cut-down MG barrel from the semi host into my presample IMI machinegun, to eliminate the barrel and RB as potential issues. I've fired this configuration many times with no problems, both with the RB in the RR (a double machinegun!? ), and with the semi barrel and the regular FA bolt in the RR.

Here is the semi barrel from my registered bolt host, installed in my factory IMI. The flange at the trunion and the barrel nut center it extremely well. The barrel fits tight with no play.

And the same IMI with a regular MG barrel

And both barrels

As I said, it's not an issue.

Much thanks y'all. As long as the only possible issue would be function as opposed to safety or damage I think
it would be worth a shot, excuse the pun
